The University of New Hampshire has been fortunate to have alumni and friends who are eager to express their generosity by supporting its future with charitable gifts.

The following alphabetical list illustrates how private contributions make a difference. This compilation of more than 700 named and endowed funds established at UNH from the late 1800’s to the present reflects a history of philanthropy at the state’s flagship public university.

By recognizing the donors of named and endowed funds, we express our deep gratitude for their vision and commitment and thank them for their affiliation with UNH.

Aarow Graydon Pest Control Scholarship
Established with gifts from Aarow Graydon Pest Control, the Aarow Graydon Pest Control Scholarship provides a scholarship to one full-time undergraduate student majoring in entomology who demonstrates a career interest in pest control.

Furio Abbiatti Memorial Scholarship
Following its twenty-fifth reunion, the Class of 1927 established the Furio Abbiatti Memorial Scholarship fund in memory of Furio A. Abbiatti '27, a former vice president of the Monsanto Company, who was characterized as an "outstanding class member."

Theodore "Tad" Ackman Jr. and Robin D. Gorsky Endowed Scholarship Fund
The Theodore "Tad" R. Ackman Jr. and Robin D. Gorsky Endowed Scholarship Fund was established by friends, family, and colleagues in memory of Robin D. Gorsky and her husband Tad Ackman. The fund provides a minimum of two scholarships each year: one in the name of Tad Ackman is awarded to students majoring in journalism or communications; the second in the name of Robin Gorsky is awarded to a student engaged in sciences related to public health.

Edward Cass Adams Fund
Established in 1981 by Analesa F. Adams MacLeod, the Edward Cass Adams Fund provides scholarship support to students engaged in the study of wildlife management and research or the conservation of natural resources.

Forrest Eugene Adams Memorial Scholarship
The Forrest Eugene Adams Memorial Scholarship was established by the Class of 1922 to honor the men and women who died during World War I. The fund provides a scholarship to a student with a demonstrated financial need, with preference given to students who are descendents of a member of the Class of 1922.

Robert P. Ahern Memorial Scholarship
The Robert P. Ahern Memorial Scholarship was established by associates of Robert Ahern '38 in recognition of his career serving the New England agricultural industry. The fund provides scholarship support to upperclassmen majoring in animal sciences, with preference given to students with an interest in poultry.

Albin Entrepreneurship Fund
The Albin Entrepreneurship Fund was established in 1995, by H.C. "Bud" Albin Jr. '55 in honor of his fiftieth class reunion. The fund encourages and advances entrepreneurship within the Whittemore School of Business and Economics and supports activities related to entrepreneurship, primarily in New Hampshire.

Dr. Norman Alexander Teaching Excellence Fund
The Dr. Norman Alexander Teaching Excellence Fund was established in 1998 by Arnold P. and Della Hanson to honor Dr. Norman Alexander who served from 1929-1948 as a faculty member, dean of men, and chair of the government department at the University. The fund supports UNH Faculty Excellence awards annually.

Winnie R. Allen Scholarship
Established in 1980 by Winnie R. Allen, the Winnie R. Allen Scholarship provides scholarship support to deserving students.

UNH Alumni Association Enrichment Fund
The UNH Alumni Association Enrichment Fund was established with a gift from the Isabelle R. Dionne estate and additional gifts through the UNH Alumni Association. The fund provides continuing support for enrichment programs, services, and purposes benefiting alumni, faculty, and students of UNH.

UNH Alumni Memorial Theatre/Dance Performance Endowed Fund
The UNH Alumni Memorial Theatre/Dance Performance Endowed Fund was established to commemorate UNH alumni/alumnae and friends whose lives and careers were cut short by AIDS or other illness. The fund enables an annual award to an undergraduate student in the Department of Theatre and Dance who displays outstanding performance ability in theatre, dance, or musical theatre.

UNH Alumni Association Endowed Alumni Scholars Fund
The UNH Alumni Association Endowed Alumni Scholars Fund was established in 2000 by the UNH Alumni Association and UNH alumni. The fund provides scholarship support to direct lineal descendents of members of the UNH Alumni Association. UNH Alumni Scholars must be enrolled in a four-year degree program at the University and must demonstrate high academic achievement and promise.

American Agriculturalist Foundation Scholarship
The American Agriculturalist Foundation Scholarship was established to provide scholarship support to a deserving rural student with preference given to students transferring from a two-year to a four-year college.

The New Hampshire Chapter of the American Society for Metals Fund
The New Hampshire Chapter of the American Society for Metals Fund was established at UNH with a gift from the New Hampshire Chapter of the American Society for Metals. The fund provides financial support to the materials group in the Department of Engineering for books, journals, guest speakers, equipment, travel, and undergraduate and graduate scholarships.

Alumni Meritorious Service Association Award
The Alumni Meritorious Service Association Award of the UNH Alumni Association provides an annual award at Honors Convocation to a UNH junior who excels in academics and extracurricular activities.

Thomas R. Anderson Fund
The Thomas R. Anderson Fund provides funds for the Department of Electrical and Computer Engineering to use at its discretion.

Richard A. Andrews Memorial Award
The Richard A. Andrews Memorial Award was established by friends and colleagues of Richard A. Andrews. The award recognizes the senior resources management major with the highest accumulative grade-point average in resource economics, economics, mathematics, and statistics.

William H. Annis Fund for Occupational Education
The William H. Annis Fund for Occupational Education was established with a gift from Mildred R. St. Pierre. The fund provides financial support to the occupational education program at the University.

Doris Child Reney Armbrust Fund
The Doris Child Reney Armbrust Fund was established by Doris Armbrust who received her masters in elementary education from UNH in 1942. The fund provides support for the University's Marine Program.

Reginald F. Atkins Scholarship
The Reginald F. Atkins Scholarship was established by Reginald F. Atkins, who received his bachelor of arts from the University in 1928. The fund provides scholarship aid to students who have attended two full years, graduated from a New Hampshire public or private school, and demonstrate athletic and academic purpose.

Reginald F. Atkins Chair
The Reginald F. Atkins Chair was established by Reginald F. Atkins, who received his bachelor of arts from the University in 1928. The fund supports an academic chair at the Whittemore School of Business and Economics.

Arden Atkins Scholarship
The Arden Atkins Scholarship was established in 1996 by Arden G. Atkins '33 to provide scholarship support to students who have demonstrated financial need and possess outstanding scholastic and athletic abilities.

Colonel John and Helena K. Ayotte Endowed Scholarship
Established in 1991 by a private donor, the Colonel John and Helena K. Ayotte Endowed Scholarship provides financial assistance to students enrolled at UNH.

John Edwin Bachelder Family Trust Scholarship Fund
The John Edwin Bachelder Family Trust Scholarship Fund was established by Albert B. Bachelder as a memorial to his father, mother, and their children. The fund provides scholarship support for students from Merrimack County, New Hampshire, attending the Thompson School with preference given to students from Loudon, New Hampshire.

Dr. Leslie Bacon Award in Chemical Engineering
The Dr. Leslie Bacon Award in Chemical Engineering was established with a gift from Leslie R. Bacon '24 to recognize the senior with the highest proficiency in chemical engineering as determined by the faculty of the chemical engineering department.

Katherine Bailey Endowment Fund
The Katherine Bailey Endowment Fund is awarded annually to the senior demonstrating the highest proficiency in chemistry during their undergraduate career. Established by Dr. C.H. Bailey 1879 of Gardner, Massachusetts, and E.A. Bailey 1885 of Keene, New Hampshire, the award has been funded since 1888 by previous prize winners.

Richard and Georgia Balomenos Memorial Fund
The Richard and Georgia Balomenos Memorial Fund was established at UNH by the family and friends of Richard and Georgia Balomenos. The fund provides support to enhance the educational opportunities available to students through the Math Lab at the College of Engineering and Physical Sciences.

Bank Meridien Endowed Scholarship
The Bank Meridien Endowed Scholarship is awarded to a graduate of Winnacunnet High School or Exeter Area High School entering their freshman year at UNH. The award is based on academic achievement, involvement in school and community activities, and demonstrated good citizenship.

Peter Lino Barili Memorial Scholarship
The Peter Lino Barili Memorial Scholarship was established in 1971 by John H. Lindahl, Edward A. Shapiro, and alumni of the Sigma Beta fraternity. The fund was created in memory of Peter Lino Barili '68, a Sigma Beta brother who gave his life in Vietnam on February 21, 1971 at the age of twenty-four. The fund provides scholarship support to an undergraduate member of the Sigma Beta fraternity at UNH.

Paul Michael Barlow Memorial Prize Fund
The Paul Michael Barlow Memorial Prize Fund was established by Professor Barlow in memory of his son, Paul Michael Barlow, a UNH student with a strong interest in religious studies and philosophy. The fund provides recognition to undergraduates majoring in philosophy.

Barrows/Bogart Cycling Scholarship Fund
The Barrows/Bogart Cycling Scholarship Fund was established by alumni and friends of the UNH cycling program in memory of former members of the Cycling Club, including David Barrows '86 and Brian Bogart, a member in 1990. The fund provides financial support to students at the University who are active participants in the Cycling Club.

Governor John H. Bartlett Fund
The Governor John H. Bartlett Fund was established in 1955 by former New Hampshire Governor John H. Bartlett to support a yearly award for a needy student or students from Sunapee, New Hampshire.

Gordon H. Bassett Endowed Scholarship Fund
The Gordon H. Bassett Endowed Scholarship Fund provides scholarship support to full-time students majoring in chemical engineering or chemistry.

George H. Batchelder Scholarship Fund
The George H. Batchelder Scholarship Fund was established in 2000 by George H. Batchelder '21 to provide an annual scholarship to a "scholar-athlete" recommended by the Wildcat Athletics Council.

Joseph D. Batcheller Memorial Endowed Fund
The Joseph D. Batcheller Memorial Endowed Fund was established in 1994 to commemorate Professor Joseph D. Batcheller's lifelong contribution to theatre at UNH. The fund enables an annual award to an undergraduate theatre major who displays outstanding performance ability in theatre or musical theatre.

Bearcamp Valley Garden Club Scholarship
The Bearcamp Valley Garden Club Scholarship provides financial support to an undergraduate or graduate student at the University majoring in horticulture, forestry, or environmental conservation.

The Norman I. Bearse Memorial Scholarship in Chemical Engineering
The Norman I. Bearse Memorial Scholarship Fund was established by the family of Norman Bearse '21, a member of Kappa Sigma and Alpha Chi Sigma fraternities. The fund provides financial support assistance to a full-time undergraduate New Hampshire resident student at UNH who is majoring in chemical engineering.

Beaupre Entrepreneurial Scholarship Fund
The Beaupre Entrepreneurial Scholarship Fund was established in 2001 by Andre P. Beaupre '75, Karen Beaupre, Timothy Beaupre, and Nicole Beaupre, graduates of Somersworth High School. The fund provides four-year, full-tuition scholarships to entering freshmen who are graduates of Somersworth High School and who exemplify the entrepreneurial spirit necessary for personal and professional success.

Jessie Potter Beck Endowed Scholarship Fund for Music
The Jessie Potter Beck Endowed Scholarship Fund for Music was established with a gift from Martha Beck Burton and David M. Burton to award scholarships to graduate or undergraduate students studying music.

John A. Beckett Writing Prize
Established by faculty to honor Professor John A. Beckett, the John A. Beckett Writing Prize is awarded each year for the best written paper submitted by an undergraduate as a part of regular course work.

Kathleen Beckingham Endowed Scholarship Fund
The Kathleen Beckingham Scholarship Fund was established in 1999 by Kathleen Beckingham '40 to provide scholarship support to assist undergraduate students who are members of an athletic team or program at UNH.

Marion C. Beckwith Endowed Fund
The Marion C. Beckwith Endowed Fund was established in 1980 by Marion C. Beckwith to support the Department of Physical Education for such things as books, journals, guest speakers, equipment, travel, and undergraduate scholarships.

Eric Wilkes Bell Memorial Award
The Eric Wilkes Bell Memorial Award was established in 2000 by the family and friends of Eric Wilkes Bell to provide annual research grants to undergraduate students majoring in soil conservation, environmental conservation, water resource management, forestry, or wildlife management in the Department of Natural Resources.

Joseph A. Bellavance Football Scholarship Fund
Established in 2000 by Joseph A. Bellavance '62, the Joseph A. Bellavance Football Scholarship Fund provides scholarship support for UNH students participating on the men's football team, allowing the University to recruit and retain the best student athletes. Awards are based on athletic ability and academic promise, with preference given to students from New Hampshire.

Fred J. Bennett ’54 Scholarship Fund
This fund was established by the family of Fred J. Bennett ’54 to provide scholarship support to students enrolled in the College of Liberal Arts. Awards will be made based on financial need and potential for future achievement.

Katherine Benson-Dubreuil Annual Scholarship Fund
The Katherine Benson-Dubreuil Annual Scholarship Fund was established by the children of Katherine Benson-Dubreuil, Charles, Michelle, James, and Mary-Lynne. The scholarship is based upon academic merit and awarded to a student accepted into the five-year Teacher Education Program.

George E. Bergeron Endowed Scholarship Fund
Established in 2000 by George Bergeron '63, the George E. Bergeron Endowed Scholarship Fund provides scholarship assistance to undergraduate students from New Hampshire and Maine.

Raymond J. Bernier Scenic Arts Scholarship Fund The Raymond J. Bernier Scenic Arts Scholarship Fund was established in 1986 by friends and colleagues of Professor Raymond Bernier, a long-time faculty member and scenic arts designer/technical director for the University Theater. The scholarship provides assistance to full-time undergraduate students.

Berry-Mattoon Fund
Established with a gift from Donald and Marion Mattoon as part of the Class of 1922 Golden Anniversary Fund, the Berry-Mattoon Fund provides scholarship support to students based on academic standing and financial need.

Michael P. Berry Endowed Scholarship Fund
Established in 2001 by Michael P. Berry '71, the Michael P. Berry Endowed Scholarship Fund provides scholarship support to UNH undergraduate students who are New Hampshire residents. Preference is given to students from rural communities, and scholarships are based on financial need.

John and Marjorie Beyersdorf Fund for International Research
The John and Marjorie Beyersdorf Fund for International Research was established in 2005 by John P. Beyersdorf '57 and Marjorie McCausland Beyersdorf to enable UNH undergraduate students to participate in a University-approved international research experience through the International Research Opportunities Program or a similar successor program.

The Harry G. Bickford Scholarship
The Harry G. Bickford Scholarship was established by Harry G. Bickford to provide financial assistance to students participating in the Isles of Shoals Marine Laboratory Summer Session.

Gail A. Bigglestone Memorial Athletic Scholarship Fund
The Gail A. Bigglestone Memorial Athletic Scholarship Fund was established in 2005 in memory of Gail Bigglestone by her family and friends. This fund provides scholarship support to student athletes participating in UNH women's field hockey, lacrosse, or skiing. Awards are based on athletic ability and leadership, with recipients nominated by the coach of each respective team.

Michael S. Blanchette Scholarship Fund
This fund was established by friends and family members in memory of Michael S. Blanchette, a UNH engineering student in the class of 2006 who died unexpectedly his senior year. The fund provides scholarship support to a civil engineering student, with preference to a student who is in good academic standing and is a member of the UNH chapter of the American Society of Civil Engineers (ASCE).

Jane Blalock Endowed Athletic Scholarship Fund
The Jane Blalock Endowed Athletic Scholarship Fund was established by Jane Blalock with proceeds from the UNH Pro-Am Classic/Jane Blalock Pro-Am Classic to provide a permanent source of funding for the Jane Blalock Rookie-of-the-Year Award, an annual award in the Department of Women's Athletics, and for scholarship support for women athletes.

Colonel John Howard Blewett Scholarship Fund
Helen Plasteras Blewett ’60 and her daughters, Kimberly J. Blewett ’85 and Alyson J. Blewett, established this fund to provide need-based scholarship support to students who are members of the UNH men’s and women’s hockey teams.

Frank Block Graduate Chemistry Fund
The Frank Block Graduate Chemistry Fund was established by Frank Block to provide discretionary support to Chemistry graduate students.

Milton Bloomfield Fund
The Milton Bloomfield Fund was established in 2000 by Milton Bloomfield '48 to provide flexible support for the Climate Change Research Center.

Anna Mosher Boardman 4-H Fund
Established in 2000 by the 4-H Foundation of New Hampshire, the Anna Mosher Boardman 4-H Fund provides general, unrestricted support to the New Hampshire 4-H youth development program.

John ’54 and Anne Boehle ’56 Scholarship Fund
This fund, established in 2008, by John Boehle, Jr. ’54 and Anne Giles Boehle ’56 provides scholarship support to undergraduate students with a demonstrated financial need.

Frank E. Booma Memorial Scholarship Fund
The Frank E. Booma Memorial Scholarship Fund was established by the Class of 1928 to honor Frank E. Booma '20, who died in World War I. The fund provides scholarship support to University students.

Clarence "Chief" Boston Endowed Football Scholarship Fund
The Clarence "Chief" Boston Endowed Football Scholarship Fund was established in 2004 in honor of Chief Boston by his family, friends, and former students. The fund provides scholarship support for UNH students participating on the men's football team. Awards are based on athletic ability and academic promise.

Roger M. Bougie '56 Scholarship Fund
Established in 2005 by Roger M. Bougie '56, the Roger M. Bougie '56 Scholarship Fund provides scholarship support to students from New Hampshire or Maine, based on financial need and potential for future achievement.

Louis P. Bourgoin Scholarship Fund
Established in 1955 by alumni and friends in honor of Louis P. Bourgoin, who served as the Chief of Police for UNH and the town of Durham for 37 years, the Louis P. Bourgoin Scholarship Fund provides unrestricted scholarship support to UNH students.

Harvey L. Boutwell Scholarship Fund
The Harvey L. Boutwell Scholarship Fund was established in 1938 by Harvey L. Boutwell 1882, to provide scholarship support to students "who could otherwise find it difficult to obtain a higher education."

C. Hilton Boynton Fund
Friends, colleagues, and students established the C. Hilton Boynton Fund in 1975 in honor of C. Hilton Boynton, a distinguished dairy scientist who served UNH from 1945 to 1972. The fund supports a dairy cattle judging trip by UNH students and provides scholarships to animal science majors, especially those interested in dairy science.

Jeanne Hills Brandon Fund for Music
The Jeanne Hill Brandon Fund for Music was established in 2002 by the estate of Jeanne Hill Brandon. The fund provides support for the educational and instructional music program at the University with a preference for the brass program generally and the trumpet program in particular.

Holly Peterson Breeden ’73 Scholarship Fund
Holly Peterson Breeden ’73 established this fund to provide need-based scholarship support for students in the University Honors Program who are enrolled in the College of Liberal Arts.

Jean Brierley Fund
The Jean Brierley Fund was established by Jean Brierley '30 to provide an annual award to a faculty member on the basis of conspicuous service to the University, giving special weight to a record of outstanding teaching.

Edmund L. Brigham Scholarship Fund
The Edmund L. Brigham Scholarship Fund was established in 1931 by Eunietta Brigham in memory of her husband Edmund L. Brigham 1876. The fund provides scholarship support to University students.

Ben Bronstein Endowed Scholarship Fund
The Ben Bronstein Endowed Scholarship Fund was established by Samuel Bronstein in memory of his brother, Dr. Ben R. Bronstein '36 to provide annual assistance to one undergraduate premedical student based on academic excellence.

Verne R. and Kay W. Brown Electrical and Computer Engineering Fund
Verne R. Brown ’60 and his wife, Kay W. Brown, established this fund to provide need-based scholarship support to undergraduate students majoring in electrical and computer engineering.

Warren Brown Memorial Scholarship Fund
The Warren Brown Memorial Scholarship Fund was established by the family and friends of Warren Robert Brown, a hockey player who was a UNH sophomore administration major at the time of his death in 1973. The fund provides scholarship support to undergraduate students engaged in any intercollegiate sport, with preference given to hockey.

Alpha Tau Omega Albert H. Brown Scholarship Fund
The Alpha Tau Omega Albert H. Brown Scholarship Fund was established in 1973 by Albert H. Brown, the first initiate of the Delta Delta chapter of Alpha Tau Omega to provide scholarship to support ATO initiates.

Edna O. Brown Scholarship Fund
Established in 1964 by Edna O. Brown '09, the Edna O. Brown Scholarship Fund provides scholarships to recognize outstanding achievement at UNH.

Orton B. Brown Endowed Scholarship Fund
The Orton B. Brown Endowed Scholarship Fund was established in memory of Orton B. Brown, former president of the Brown Paper Company, and his wife, Caroline. The fund provides scholarship aid to a Berlin, New Hampshire, High School graduate enrolled at UNH.

Brownell Family Scholarship Fund
The Brownell Family Scholarship Fund was established in 1999 by David P. and Jerilyn Brownell, long-time supporters of public education and UNH. The fund provides scholarship support to New Hampshire residents who have the scholastic ability, but not the financial ability, to attend UNH.

Creeley S. "Buck" Buchanan Football Fund
The Creeley S. "Buck" Buchanan Football Fund was established by Creeley S. Buchanan '40 to recognize a member of the University's football team who has distinguished himself within the University community beyond any accomplishments within the sport itself.

Philip R. Burlingame Sr. Student Fund
Established in 1966 by Philip R. Burlingame, the Philip R. Burlingame Sr. Student Fund offers financial support to seniors enrolled in the Department of Education.

Kate Harvey Burns Scholarship Fund
The Kate Harvey Burns Scholarship Fund was established in 1998 by Rose F. Carvill '31 in memory of her aunt, Kate Harvey Burns. The fund provides financial assistance to full-time undergraduate students at UNH who are residents of New Hampshire, with preference given to first-year students.

Callahan Family Scholarship
The Callahan Family Scholarship was established by Marjorie Callahan Nolan '41 and Florence Callahan '45 '52G to provide financial support for undergraduate students enrolled in the College of Life Sciences and Agriculture.

Callahan Family Football Scholarship
The Callahan Family Football Scholarship was established by Elsa Hopkins Callahan '66 and James F. Callahan Jr. to provide scholarship support to out-of-state student athletes participating on the UNH football team.

James and Elsa Hopkins Callahan Scholarship Fund
Established in 2001 by James F. Callahan Jr. and Elsa Hopkins Callahan '66, the James and Elsa Hopkins Callahan Scholarship Fund provides scholarship support for out-of-state student athletes participating on the UNH football team. All awards are based on financial need, with preference to students who demonstrate a spirited work ethic and a commitment to excel in academics as well as athletics.

Christine St. Martin Carberry ′82 Endowed Fund for Biological Sciences
Established in 2005 through the generosity of Christine St. Martin Carberry ′82, the Christine St. Martin Carberry ′82 Endowed Fund for Biological Sciences provides for faculty research, scholarship awards and program support for the biological sciences in the College of Life Sciences and Agriculture.

Grant G. Carlson Art Award
The Grant G. Carlson Art Award was established in 1991 in memory of Grant G. Carlson by his family. The fund provides recognition and encouragement to a full-time undergraduate junior or senior pursuing a bachelor of art in studio art or a bachelor of fine arts degree. Preference is given to students with demonstrated talent and ability in the areas of drawing, watercolor, pottery, and/or sculpture.

Miriam Holman Carlson Memorial Fund
The Miriam Holman Carlson Memorial Fund was established in 2000 in memory of Miriam Holman Carlson '52 by her husband, Louis E. Carlson, to provide scholarship assistance for undergraduate students majoring in sociology.

Gertrude Phelps Carlson Memorial Scholarship
The Gertrude Phelps Carlson Memorial Scholarship was established in 1976 in memory of Gertrude Phelps Carlson by her husband, Oscar R. Carlson, to support students with demonstrated financial need, scholastic achievement, and a potential for leadership in areas such as athletics, dramatics, journalism, music, or student government.

Professor John J. Carney Research Fund for the Study of Literacy and Children’s Literature
This fund, established in 2008 by Janet C. Spadora ’98G and The Namaste Foundation honors the memory of Professor Carney and supports research by UNH faculty and students in the area of Literacy and Children’s Literature.

John T. and Doris H. Carpenter Professorship
Established by John T. and Doris H. Carpenter, the John T. and Doris H. Carpenter Professorship supports the UNH Centennial Professorship Program.

Marietta "Penny" and Jane Carr Endowed Fund
The Marietta "Penny" and Jane Carr Endowed Fund was established by Marietta "Penny" Carr '47 to provide financial assistance and support to undergraduate students who are residents of New Hampshire and who are degree matriculants within the College of Life Sciences and Agriculture.

Peterson Carsey Endowed Minority Scholarship Fund

James R. Carter Memorial Scholarship
The Carter family established the James R. Carter Memorial Scholarship as an enhancement of the James R. Carter Professorship in the Whittemore School of Business and Economics to provide a unique educational opportunity for professor-student professional collaboration.

James R. Carter Professorship of Management
The James R. Carter Professorship of Management was established to strengthen the UNH Whittemore School's management faculty by supporting a faculty position for a person who has made an outstanding professional contribution in teaching, service and/or research in the field of professional management. The position will be offered to a prospective faculty member as an added inducement to join the faculty, a visiting scholar whose temporary presence will be an unusual advantage for the school, or to a current faculty member in recognition of his/her outstanding professional contribution.

Arthur H. Carter Scholarship Fund
The Arthur H. Carter Scholarship Fund was established 2003 by Marjorie Sells Carter in memory of her husband, Arthur H. Carter. The fund provides scholarship support to residents of New England who need financial assistance with preference given to Connecticut and New Hampshire students.

Joseph L. and Marcia Hall Carter Scholarship Fund
This fund was established by Joseph L. Carter ’79, a graduate of the Whittemore School of Business and Economics, and his wife, Marcia Hall Carter, to provide scholarship support to undergraduate WSBE students. Preference will be given to students in good academic standing with a demonstrated financial need.

Winthrop Carter Fund
The Winthrop Carter Fund was established by Mr. and Mrs. Winthrop L. Carter to recognize the importance of The Art Gallery at UNH and the major role it plays in exhibits for the University community. The fund supports the Gallery's programs, most specifically the completion of the Art in New Hampshire exhibition project.

Cartlands-of-Lee Scholarship Fund
Established in 1965 by Martha Hale Shackford, the Cartlands-of-Lee Scholarship Fund provides scholarship assistance to students with demonstrated financial need who are engaged in the study of the humanities.

Cash-Bryson Scholarship
The Cash-Bryson Scholarship was established by August and Esther Joyce Bryson Cash in honor of their parents, John and Mary Cash and Joseph and Agnes Bryson. The fund provides scholarship support to junior or senior mechanical engineering majors who exemplify the qualities of interest, enthusiasm, and potential in the discipline of mechanical engineering.

Paul H. Caswell and Family Endowed Fund
Established in 1999 by Paul and Barbara Bradley Caswell, the Paul H. Caswell and Family Endowed Fund provides annual scholarship support for full-time undergraduate students who are New Hampshire residents. Awards are based on academic merit and financial need, with preference given to students from the New Hampshire seacoast communities of Portsmouth, New Castle, Rye, North Hampton, and Hampton.

The Scott Chadwick Memorial Scholarship Fund was established by Arlyse J. Chadwick in memory of her son, Scott Chadwick. Awards are made to students who maintain a minimum GPA of 2.5 and have demonstrated financial need.

Roxann Chamberlin Coos County 4-H Youth Development Fund
The Roxann Chamberlin Coos County 4-H Youth Development Fund was established in 1999 by Matthew G. Bevin in honor of Roxann Chamberlin to enable youth to participate in programs and activities that focus on developing and strengthening leadership, citizenship, vocational, and personal skills.

Champlin Scholarship Fund
Mr. and Mrs. William H. Champlin Jr. established the Champlin Scholarship Fund in 1983 to aid students majoring in mechanical engineering. Awards are made to juniors with preference given to those who show interest in the study and advancement of aeronautics.

The Randolph W. Chapman Lecture Fund was established in 1982 by Randolph W. Chapman '29 to support lectures given at UNH by visiting earth scientists with preference given to geology.

The Colby Family Fund was established by Helen C. Colby '41 in honor of her mother, Mary Barlett Colby 1897-the first class of women-and father, Irving Colby 1899 to provide scholarship support for students in mechanical engineering, environmental conservation, plant biology, horticulture, and agrimony.

Stacey W. and Mildred Hale Cole Endowed Scholarship Fund
The Stacey W. and Mildred Hale Cole Endowed Scholarship Fund was established in 1987 by colleagues and friends of Stacey W. Cole to recognize his service to the state of New Hampshire, the University System of New Hampshire, and to the New Hampshire Petroleum Council. The fund provides scholarship support to New Hampshire residents who are full-time, second-year students enrolled in the Thompson School of Applied Sciences and who exhibit motivation, promise, moral integrity, and a sense of citizenship and spirit for the Thompson School.

Established in 1872 by the Honorable John Conant of Jaffrey, New Hampshire, the Conant Scholarship Fund provides annual awards New Hampshire students taking agricultural courses who exhibit financial need. Preference is given to residents of Cheshire County, particularly of Jaffrey.

Concord Alumni Scholarship Fund
Established in 1954, the Concord Alumni Scholarship Fund provides a scholarship to one male and one female graduating senior from Concord, New Hampshire, who exhibit scholarship, financial need, and leadership abilities.

Conover Endowed Fund
The Conover Endowed Fund was established by Charlotte D. Conover '45 to enable the UNH Department of Music to bring visiting professors, lecturers, musicians, and distinguished guests to the campus to enhance the total music academic program at the University.

Robert S. Conrad Endowed Football Scholarship Fund
The Robert S. Conrad Endowed Football Scholarship Fund was established in 2002 by Robert S. Conrad '73 to provide scholarship support for UNH students who participate on the men's football team, allowing the University to recruit and retain the best student athletes.

Virginia M. and William L. Conrad Undergraduate Research Award in Plant Biology
The Virginia M. and William L. Conrad Undergraduate Research Award in Plant Biology was established in 1991 by Dr. Peter L. and Janice Marchut Conrad, members of the class of 1968, in memory of Dr. Conrad's parents. The fund provides recognition and support for undergraduate research in plant biology by funding awards to students who have shown a high aptitude for research in plant biology.

Charlotte and Herb Cooper Scholarship Fund
The Charlotte and Herb Cooper Scholarship Fund was established by Charlotte and Herb Cooper to provide scholarship assistance to students enrolled in the Thompson School of Applied Science who exhibit academic merit and financial need.

Howard W. Cope Memorial Endowed Scholarship Fund
Friends of Howard W. Cope '50 established the Howard W. Cope Memorial Endowed Scholarship Fund in 1979 to provide scholarships to married, divorced or widowed undergraduates who have dependent children, are enrolled in the College of Engineering and Physical Sciences, and exhibit outstanding academic achievement, personal leadership, and financial need.

Paul E. Corriveau Memorial Scholarship Fund
The Class of 1923 established the Paul E. Corriveau Memorial Scholarship Fund in memory of Paul Edward Corriveau '15, a lieutenant in the U.S. Army who died in World War I. Preference is given to descendents of alumni.

Paul A. Cote Scholarship Fund
Established by Paul A. Cote, the Paul A. Cote Scholarship Fund provides financial assistance to full-time undergraduate students in their second, third, or fourth year of matriculation at UNH who exhibit financial need and academic ability.

Counseling Program Annual Scholarship Fund
The Counseling Program Annual Scholarship Fund was established by alumni of the Graduate Program in Counseling to provide tuition support and assistance to outstanding students enrolled in the Graduate Program in Counseling.

Nancy J. Coutu Memorial Scholarship Fund
The Nancy J. Coutu Memorial Scholarship Fund was established in 2002 by family and friends of Nancy J. Coutu '93 to provide scholarship support to students majoring in wildlife management who exhibit academic merit, financial need, and extracurricular involvement in the UNH Wildlife Program.

Crop Protection Institute Fund
The Crop Protection Institute Fund was established in 1983 to provide financial support to master of science or doctor of philosophy candidates engaged in agricultural chemical-oriented research, or students whose major field of study is animal science.

Combustion Engineering-Newington Site Award
The Combustion Engineering-Newington Site Award was established in recognition of Professor Frederick Hochgraf and the Mechanical Engineering Department to provide an annual award to third- or fourth-year students who are enrolled in the College of Engineering and Physical Sciences and majoring in mechanical engineering, with preference given to those students working in materials.

Melbourne W. Cummings Endowed Scholarship Fund
The Melbourne W. Cummings Endowed Scholarship Fund was established by Melbourne W. Cummings '29 to assist the University in recruiting and retaining a diverse student body by providing scholarships to undergraduates from out of state.

The Fisher Currier Scholarship Fund was established by the New Hampshire Daughters to provide scholarship support to a female student who is a New Hampshire resident.

William T. Cushing Memorial Scholarship Fund
The William T. Cushing Memorial Scholarship Fund was established by his parents, Thomas Cushing '49 and Mildred Heath Cushing '52 to provide financial assistance to students in the Whittemore School of Business and Economics who are New Hampshire residents and exhibit academic achievement and personal leadership. Preference is given to qualified students from Franklin, New Hampshire.

Established by Marion Edwena Mitchell Cutts '16, the Elmer F. and Marion Mitchell Cutts Scholarship Fund provides scholarship support to students enrolled in the College of Engineering and Physical Sciences who exhibit outstanding ability, good morals, and financial need. Preference is given to seniors, then juniors, sophomores, and freshman.

The Dr. A.F. Daggett Endowed Fund was established in 1999 in honor of Dr. A. Frederick Daggett, professor emeritus of chemistry, by George Galanes '49. The fund provides research support for undergraduate students in the Chemistry Department.

The Dakin Family Scholarship Fund was established in 2000 by Vergilia Paasche Dakin '67 to provide scholarship support to students majoring in family studies, with a concentration in child studies, who exhibit academic merit and financial need.

The Alexander P. Danoff Endowed Scholarship Fund was established by members of the Danoff family in honor of Professor Alexander Danoff, who served as a professor of German from 1949 to 1969. The Morris F. Darling Memorial Fund was established in 1993 by his family to provide enhanced financial support to the UNH varsity and recreation crew programs.

Gilbert B. Davenport Theatre Award
The Gilbert B. Davenport Theatre Award was established in 2003 by Michael O'Malley '88, a student of Gilbert B. Davenport, professor emeritus of theatre and dance. The fund provides scholarship awards to junior and senior theatre majors who embody the collaborative theatrical spirit of Gil Davenport through department curricular and core-curricular activities.

Thomas J. Davis Prize Award
The Thomas J. Davis Prize Award fund was established in 1915 by Thomas J. Davis to recognize students in the Thompson School of Applied Science for proficiency in dairy cattle judging.

Mr. and Mrs. Robert C. Davison Professorship
The Mr. and Mrs. Robert C. Davison Professorship was established in 1975 to allow the University to compete for the best academic talent when recruiting new faculty or recognizing outstanding existing faculty.

Young P. Dawkins III Endowed Prize in Creative Writing
The Young P. Dawkins III Endowed Prize in Creative Writing was established in 2005 in honor of the UNH Foundation's third president, Young P. Dawkins III, by current and former members of the UNH Foundation Board of Directors and colleagues at the University. The fund provides an annual award to the graduating student with the most outstanding final thesis in the master of fine arts within the English Department.

Glenice Dearborn Scholarship Fund
Established in 2001 by Glenice Dearborn Fluery, the Glenice Dearborn Scholarship Fund provides annual scholarships for students who have maintained a "B" or equivalent grade average or better in their, second or third year of undergraduate studies at UNH in a bachelor of science degree program in the College of Engineering and Physical Sciences.

Stephen Decesare Memorial Scholarship Fund
Friends and family of Stephen D. Decesare established the Stephen Decesare Memorial Scholarship Fund to provide financial assistance to full-time undergraduate students in their sophomore, junior, or senior years who graduated from Salem High School, Salem, New Hampshire. Recipients must have at least a 2.00 grade point average and exhibit good citizenship, an interest in civic activities, and financial need.

Virginia Paul Dee Professorship
The Virginia Paul Dee Professorship was established by E. Paul Casey in memory of his mother, Virginia Paul Dee to attract and retain outstanding faculty in accounting and finance.

Virginia Paul Dee Memorial Scholarship Fund
The Virginia Paul Dee Memorial Scholarship Fund was established by E. Paul Casey in memory of his mother, Virginia Paul Dee to provide financial assistance to undergraduate students who are children of employees of Davidson Rubber Company to encourage qualified students to further their education.

Katherine DeMeritt Memorial Fund
The Katherine DeMeritt Memorial Fund was established in 1974 by Margaret DeMeritt Croghan '11, first alumna trustee of the University, in memory of her sister, Katherine DeMeritt '08, and in recognition of her parents' lifelong connection with the University. Elizabeth P. DeMeritt served as dean of women from 1919 to 1931, and Albert DeMeritt served as a trustee from 1892 to 1895. The Katherine DeMeritt Memorial Fund provides a scholarship award to a junior woman who has shown great aptitude for helpful leadership, cheerful loyalty, strength of character, and scholastic attainments.

W. Edwards Deming Scholarship Fund
The W. Edwards Deming Scholarship Fund was established by Dr. W. Edward Deming to provide scholarship support to a full-time student majoring in mathematics who has achieved excellence in the field of statistics.

Robert L. Deming Memorial Scholarship Fund
The family of Robert L. Deming '43 established the Robert L. Deming Memorial Scholarship Fund in 1968. The fund supports a scholarship to a New Hampshire resident in good academic standing.

Kenneth E. Denham Memorial Scholarship Fund
The family and friends of Kenneth E. Denham '74 established the Kenneth E. Denham Memorial Scholarship Fund to provide scholarship assistance to a student with demonstrated financial need in good academic standing, with special consideration given to student residents of New York and Massachusetts.

Michael DePorte English Department Book Fund
Family and friends of Michael DePorte and faculty and staff of the English Department established the Michael DePorte English Department Book Fund in 2005 in memory of Michael DePorte, professor of literature at UNH, to provide a source of funds for faculty members for the purchase of texts in support of their teaching and research.

Dey Family Fund
The Dey Family Fund was established in 2001 by Kinsley van Rensselaer “K.v.” Dey Jr. ’48, his wife, Patricia Caswell Dey, and their children, Pamela Dey Vossler ’81, Frederick C. “Ted” Dey ’84 and Kinsley van R. Dey III. The Dey Family Fund provides financial support to the University’s Writing Across the Curriculum Program, which fosters the development of student learning and academic, professional, and civic literacy.

Dickie Family Endowed Scholarship Fund
The Dickie Family Endowed Scholarship Fund was established by Logan R. Dickie Jr. '37 and Phyllis Beattie Dickie to provide scholarship support to undergraduate or graduate students enrolled in the College of Life Sciences and Agriculture. Awards are based on academic merit and demonstrated financial need.

Robert "Bo" Dickson Endowed Scholarship Fund and Spirit Award
The Robert "Bo" Dickson Scholarship Fund and Spirit Award was established by friends, family, and colleagues of Robert W. Dickson '62 to provide an annual award to a member of the football team, alumnus, or friend of UNH football who exhibits dedication, spirit, and commitment to the football team. A scholarship award may also be made from this fund to a New Hampshire resident who is a member of the football team.

Albert W. Diniak Memorial Fund
The Albert W. Diniak Memorial Fund was established in 1965 by Olympia P. Diniak in memory of her husband, Albert W. Diniak '40 '50G to support a scholarship for an undergraduate or graduate student majoring in chemistry.

Elinor Dodge Endowment
The Elinor Dodge Endowment was created with funds from the Elinor Dodge Trust in support of the College of Life Sciences and Agriculture.

The Joy Dokos Diagnostic Research Fund
The Joy Dokos Diagnostic Research Fund was established by Joy Dokos '57 to be used by the College of Life Sciences and Agriculture for research at their diagnostic laboratories.

Donovan Family Scholarship Fund
The Donovan Family Scholarship Fund was established in 2004 by George D. Donovan Jr. '88 and Mary McGrath Donovan '90 to provide supplemental scholarship support to students currently enrolled or enrolling in the Whittemore School of Business and Economics. Scholarship recipients must demonstrate an unexpected and difficult change of circumstances that may have an unfavorable effect on their enrollment at the University.

Ben and Zelma Dorson Endowed Scholarship Fund
Established by Zelma Dorson, the Ben and Zelma Dorson Endowed Scholarship Fund provides scholarship aid to one or more undergraduate students who are residents of New Hampshire and demonstrate financial need.

Zelma Dorson Endowed Fund for the Humanities
The Zelma Dorson Endowed Fund for the Humanities was established by Zelma Dorson in memory of Benjamin Dorson '34 to support the programs and activities of the University's Center for the Humanities.

Edward H. Downing Fund
The Edward H. Downing Fund was established by Edward H. Downing to support the purchase of books and periodicals for the University Library.

David W. Drew Memorial Scholarship Fund
Established in 1974 by the family, friends, and associates of David W. Drew '73, the David W. Drew Memorial Scholarship Fund provides assistance to students who participate in academically sponsored summer coursework or research in marine biology in a location other than New Hampshire and its coastal waters. Recipients must be juniors or seniors who have demonstrated scholarship and who participate in career-related activities beyond the normal curriculum.

Timothy J. and Edwin T. Dugal Endowed Hockey Scholarship Fund
Established in 2001 by Timothy J. Dugal '79 and Deborah A. Dugal to provide scholarship support for students participating on the men's hockey team, allowing the University to recruit and retain the best student athletes.

Sam Dumais Memorial Scholarship
Established by the Strafford County Kennel Club, the Sam Dumais Memorial Scholarship provides an annual award to a second-year, full-time Thompson School of Applied Science student from New Hampshire, with preference to students from Strafford or Carroll Counties. The recipient must be enrolled in the small animal program, have earned at least a 3.0 grade-point average during their freshman year, and have demonstrated financial need.

S. Judson Dunaway Endowed Fund
Established in 1976 by S. Judson Dunaway, the S. Judson Dunaway Endowed Fund provides scholarship support for students enrolled in the Whittemore School of Business and Economics.

John and Lillian Perkins Duncan Memorial Book Fund
The John and Lillian Perkins Duncan Memorial Book Fund was established in1977 by Lillian P. Duncan '33 to provide resources for the purchase of books by the University Library.

William L. Dunfey Endowment for the Study of History
The William L. Dunfey Endowment for the Study of History was established by William "Bud" Dunfey '50 to support the William L. Dunfey Visiting Professorship in History.

William Dunlop Fund
Established in 1998 by William R. Dunlop, the William Dunlop Fund provides support to the Department of Animal Science to further the study and teaching of tissue culture or to expand and improve the Department of Animal Sciences' biological library relating to tissue culture.

The Earth Sciences Memorial Fund was established in 1998 in memory of colleagues who have played an important role in the development of the department. The fund provides field scholarships for students majoring in earth science.

Ernest Clifford Easter Endowed Scholarship Fund
The Ernest Clifford Easter Endowed Scholarship Fund was established in memory of Dr. Ernest Clifford Easter '53 '54G by his wife, Barbara Gordon Easter. The fund provides scholarship support for undergraduate students based on academic merit and financial need.

Clyde S. and Isabelle H. Eaton Agricultural Scholarship
Established by Clyde S. and Isabelle H. Eaton in 1979, the Clyde S. and Isabelle H. Eaton Agricultural Scholarship provides financial assistance to a full-time, upperclass undergraduate in the College of Life Sciences and Agriculture who is interested in animals or plant agriculture and who exhibits academic achievement.

Sally Pike Edelman Memorial Award
Established by family and friends in memory of Sally Pike Edelman '68 '77G, the Sally Pike Edelman Memorial Award is presented each semester to sophomores or upperclass students with demonstrated musical ability or to freshmen with potential as music majors. Preference is given first to French horn majors.

John C. Edwards Theatre Scholarship
The John C. Edwards Theatre Scholarship was established in 2006 by Michael O'Malley '88, a student of John C. Edwards, professor emeritus of theatre and dance.  Dr. Edwards taught at the University from 1961 through 1995 and was instrumental in the creation of the UNH Summer Repertory Theatre. The fund provides scholarship awards to sophomore, junior, and senior theatre majors who have an interest in performing. Students must have a minimum 3.0 grade point average.

Electrical and Computer Engineering Fund
The Electrical and Computer Engineering Fund was established in 1998 by the Industrial Associates Program (IAP), a consortium of several companies and the Department of Electrical and Computer Engineering. The fund provides financial awards to undergraduate students in the department based on student scholarship, professional promise, personal growth, demonstrated achievement, and the general commendation of the faculty.

David W. and Marion S. Ellis Fund
The David W. and Marion S. Ellis Fund was established in 2001 by David W. and Marion S. Ellis to provide financial assistance to undergraduate students in Chemistry or the Family Research Laboratory who participate in a University-approved international study experience. Students must demonstrate financial need and have completed three or more semesters with an overall grade point average of 2.5.

Gerald M. and Jane Campbell Ellsworth Endowed Fund for International Study
The Gerald M. and Jane Campbell Ellsworth Endowed Fund for International Study was established by Gerald M. Ellsworth '49 and Jane Campbell Ellsworth '50 to provide financial assistance for undergraduate students to participate in a University-approved international study experience. Students must have demonstrated financial need, have completed three or more semesters with an overall grade point average of 2.5 or greater, and be/will be matriculants in one of the University's approved international programs.

Barbara Sands Emery Fund
The Barbara Sands Emery Fund was established in 1977 to provide unrestricted funds for use at the discretion of the University president.

England Family Fund
The England Family Fund was established by Valerie Cutts Wilcox England '54 and Frederick J. England Jr. and their children. The England Family Fund provides recognition and financial support to a faculty member in the School of Health and Human Services to enhance teaching, research, and professional development, with preference given to faculty in the Occupational Therapy Department.

Harry W. Evans Scholarship Fund
Established in 1949 by Harry W. Evans 1901, the Harry W. Evans Scholarship Fund supports an annual scholarship for a graduate or undergraduate student of "high character and excellence in scholarship."

Excellence in Teaching Scholarship
The Excellence in Teaching Scholarship provides financial assistance to students involved in the internship portion of the graduate program in teacher education. Recipients must be graduates of New Hampshire high schools and are chosen for their academic performance and for their potential for contribution to the teaching profession.

Facilities Services Endowment
Established by Eugene H. Leaver and Jeanne Fairbanks Leaver, the Facilities Services Endowment provides scholarship support to dependent children of employees in the Division of Physical O & M and the Division of Public Safety at UNH based on financial need, academic status, participation in extracurricular activities, character, and citizenship.

Fair Winds Farm Equine Scholarship Fund
The Fair Winds Farm Equine Scholarship Fund was established in 2001 by Mark C. Mullen '79, Laura Bowering Mullen '80, and Fair Winds Farm, Inc. The fund provides scholarship support to undergraduate students enrolled in the two- and four-year equine programs within the College of Life Sciences and Agriculture and the Thompson School of Applied Sciences. Awards are based on financial need and academic merit, with preference given to students demonstrating a strong interest in pursuing careers in the standardbred and thoroughbred racing industry.

Harry L. Farnham Memorial Scholarship Fund
The Harry L. Farnham Memorial Scholarship Fund was established in 1973 by Grace P. Glidden Farnham in memory of her husband. Harry L. Farnham '15 who served on the UNH Board of Trustees in 1944 and 1945. The fund provides scholarship support to students in the College of Engineering and Physical Sciences, with preference given to electrical engineering majors. Recipients must exhibit financial need and have at least a 2.00 grade-point average.

Ruth E. Farrington Forestry Scholarship Fund
Established in 1974 by Ruth E. Farrington, the Ruth E. Farrington Forestry Scholarship Fund provides scholarship support for students majoring in forest resources. Additional income from the fund provides discretionary support for the Forestry Department.

Joseph L. Fearer Scholarship Fund
The Joseph L. Fearer Scholarship Fund was established in 1943 by Joseph L. Fearer '31 to provide an annual scholarship to a sophomore, junior, or senior with high academic standing who is enrolled in the College of Engineering and Physical Sciences.

Edward and Diane Federman Endowed Fund
Established in 2004 by Edward Federman '74 and Diane White Federman '75, the Edward and Diane Federman Endowed Fund provides a discretionary resource through which the University president may support critical priorities that advance the University's teaching, research, and outreach missions.

Andrew L. Felker Scholarship Fund
In 1952, friends established the Andrew L. Felker Scholarship Fund in memory of Dr. Andrew L. Felker, New Hampshire State Commissioner of Agriculture from 1913 to 1946. The fund provides scholarship support to a worthy student from a New Hampshire farm enrolled in the College of Life Sciences and Agriculture.

First 500 UNH Football Endowed Athletic Fund
This fund was established through the generosity of former members, friends, and supporters of the UNH football program in anticipation of the team’s 500th victory (achieved on October 25, 2008). The fund provides scholarships for and operational support to the UNH football team.

Edward A. Fish Endowed Football Scholarship
The Edward A. Fish Endowed Football Scholarship was established in 1999 by Edward A. Fish '58 to provide annual scholarship awards to members of the UNH intercollegiate football team based on academic merit, athletic ability, and financial need.

Herman Charles Fogg Scholarship Fund
Established by Hazel Corliss Fogg '30 in memory of her husband, the Herman Charles Fogg Scholarship Fund provides scholarship support to the student who has the highest average grade in analytical chemistry, qualitative and quantitative, at the end of their junior year.

Endowed Fund for Football
The Endowed Fund for Football was established in 2002 by an anonymous donor with a strong interest in football to provide an ongoing source of financial support for the UNH intercollegiate football program.

Richard M. Ford Endowed Memorial Fund
The Richard M. Ford Endowed Memorial Fund was established by Mr. and Mrs. William J. Ford in memory of their son Richard M. Ford '80.

Foreign Language Study Abroad Scholarship
Established by alumni and friends, Foreign Language Study Abroad Scholarships are awarded to full-time undergraduates who are foreign language majors or who participate in a recognized University foreign language sequence of courses. Recipients must have been accepted into an approved program for study abroad. Financial need is a consideration.

Sylvester M. Foster Fund
The Sylvester M. Foster Fund was established by Sylvester M. Foster 1884 to provide scholarship support to incoming freshmen.

Eugene Lewis and Mavis Howard Foster Class of 1944 Endowed Scholarship Fund
The Eugene Lewis and Mavis Howard Foster Class of 1944 Endowed Scholarship Fund was established by Dr. Eugene L. and Mavis Howard Foster in honor of the University's Class of 1944. The fund provides financial assistance to full-time undergraduate New Hampshire resident students and is based on academic merit, although financial need may be considered. Preference is given to students who graduated from the Fosters' alma mater, Spaulding High School in Rochester, New Hampshire.

Kenneth R. Fowler Scholarship Fund
The Kenneth R. Fowler Scholarship Fund was established in 1980 by friends of Kenneth R. Fowler to honor him on the occasion of his retirement after 50 years of service to the University. The fund provides scholarships to worthy undergraduate students who are enrolled in the College of Life Sciences and Agriculture or the Thompson School of Applied Science and studying dairy science. Recipients are selected based on academic achievement and a sincere interest in working with superior dairy cattle; preference is given to residents of New England.

Donald Fox Memorial Scholarship Fund
Established by the family and friends of Donald Fox, the Donald Fox Memorial Scholarship Fund provides scholarships to New England residents enrolled in the College of Engineering and Physical Sciences who exhibit financial need.

Dr. E. Elizabeth French Memorial Fund
The Dr. E. Elizabeth French Memorial Fund was established in 1993 by family, friends, colleagues, and alumni/alumnae of UNH and the Mary Hitchcock Memorial Hospital School of Medical Technology to provide an annual scholarship to a deserving senior majoring in medical laboratory science to be used for the student's clinical internship. Recipients are chosen based on academic achievement, leadership, and service to the University or community.

Kyle F. Frey Endowed Scholarship Fund
The Kyle F. Frey Endowed Scholarship Fund was established in 2000 by Kyle F. Frey '86 to provide scholarship support for undergraduate students at the Whittemore School of Business and Economics who exhibit financial need. Preference is given to students from Connecticut.

Coach Gerry Friel Basketball Scholarship Fund
The Coach Gerry Friel Basketball Scholarship Fund provides scholarship support to members of the UNH men’s basketball team who are in good academic standing. The fund was established in 2008 in memory of Coach Friel by members of his immediate and extended family and pays tribute to his service to UNH as coach of the UNH Wildcats basketball team, Director of University Athletic Relations and Director of Athletic Fundraising.

Friends of the UNH Library
The Friends of the UNH Library fund provides discretionary support for the UNH Library.

Friends of UNH Sailing
The Friends of UNH Sailing provides opportunities for persons and organizations interested in the University's Sailing Team to support team activities through fundraising efforts and other means serving the team's best interests.

Friends of UNH Soccer Fund
The Friends of UNH Soccer Fund was established by alumni and friends of UNH Soccer to provide support for UNH soccer activities.

Martha and Theodore Frizzell Fund
Established in 1990 by members of the Class of 1924 and bequests from Leslie R. Bacon '24, Martha Frizzell '24, and Theodore Frizzell '25, the Martha and Theodore Frizzell Fund provides scholarship support for undergraduate and graduate students in the College of Life Sciences and Agriculture.

Fuller Foundation Endowed Scholarship Fund
Established by the Fuller Foundation of New Hampshire, the Fuller Foundation Endowed Scholarship Fund provides financial assistance to juniors and seniors studying clinical psychology who exhibit academic achievement and personal leadership.

Fund for African Development
Ellis A. Woodward ’74 established the Fund for African Development to provide financial support to students participating in an international research project based in Africa through the UNH Hamel Center for Undergraduate Research.

The Carl M. Gahan Endowed Scholarship Fund was established in 2002 by Carl M. Gahan '53 to provide scholarship support to students with high scholastic averages and demonstrated financial need.

Tommy Gallant Scholarship Fund
The Tommy Gallant Scholarship Fund was established in 1998 by family, friends, colleagues, and admirers in memory of Thomas Leo Gallant, professional jazz pianist, educator, and friend of the University. The fund provides scholarship support to undergraduate or graduate students, preferably pianists, who have the potential to reach a high level of achievement as performers.

German Society of Manchester Scholarship Fund
The German Society of Manchester Scholarship Fund provides scholarship support to students of German ancestry from Manchester, New Hampshire.

Edward L. and Alice Forbes Getchell Scholarship Fund
The Edward L. and Alice Forbes Getchell Scholarship Fund was established in memory of Edward L. Getchell, professor of mechanical engineering, and Alice Forbes Gettchell by Sylvia Fitts Getchell '47 and L. Forbes Getchell '47. The fund provides financial support to undergraduate and graduate students enrolled in the University's College of Engineering and Physical Sciences. Recipients must be electrical, mechanical, or chemical engineering majors who are graduates of New Hampshire high schools and who demonstrate financial need, academic merit, and service to their community.

Mary Anne Gillespie '77G Graduate Scholarship Fund
The Mary Anne Gillespie '77G Graduate Scholarship Fund was established in 2005 by Mary Anne Gillespie '77G to provide scholarship support to students enrolled in the masters of business administration program in the Whittemore School of Business and Economics.

George T. "Gus" Gilman Scholarship Fund
The George T. "Gus" Gilman Scholarship Fund was established with gifts from friends and associates of George T. "Gus" Gilman in honor of his loyal support of the University. The fund provides scholarship assistance to New Hampshire residents who are full-time undergraduate students with specific interest in economics, the environment, wildlife, or other aspects affecting the quality of life in New Hampshire.

Paul Gilman Memorial Scholarship Fund
The Paul Gilman Memorial Scholarship Fund was established in 1978 by friends and Acacia brothers in honor of Paul A. Gilman, who was a professor of civil technology and a charter member of the New Hampshire chapter of Acacia fraternity. The fund provides financial assistance to full-time UNH undergraduates, with preference given to Thompson School students.

Adelaide M. Godding Fund
Established in 1955 by Adelaide M. Godding in honor of her native town of Epping, New Hampshire, the Adelaide M. Godding Fund provides financial assistance to UNH students.

Kelly Quinn Gode Endowed Fund for Crew
The Kelly Quinn Gode Endowed Fund for Crew was established in 2000 by Kelly Quinn Gode '88 and her husband, Scott Gode. The fund provides flexible support for the UNH Women's Crew Team, particularly for the purchase of equipment.

Herbert S. Gold Endowed Athletic Scholarship Fund
The Herbert S. Gold Endowed Athletic Scholarship Fund was established in 2002 by Jonathan M. Gold '77, Ruth Gold Paster '75, and Beverly Gold Goldman, in memory of Herbert S. Gold. The fund provides scholarship support for athletes actively participating in any intercollegiate sport at the University.

Golden Harvest Fund
This fund provides unrestricted, discretionary support for needs that come to the attention of the president of the University for which no funding, public or private, is available.

Norman Goroff Social Work Fund
Established by the Norman Goroff Workshop Committee, the Norman Goroff Social Work Fund is named in honor of Norman Goroff, director of the Northern New England Branch of the University of Connecticut Department of Social Work. The fund provides support for professional social work education for social workers and social work students in Northern New England.

Governor's Success Grant Scholarship Fund
The Governor's Success Grant Scholarship Fund provides individual student awards on the basis of merit and demonstrated financial need to full-time undergraduate students who are New Hampshire residents and who have completed their freshman year but have not earned a first baccalaureate degree.

University of New Hampshire Graduate Fellowship Fund
The University of New Hampshire Graduate Fellowship Fund was established in 1999 by John M. and Patricia Gibson Baker to provide support for graduate fellowships for the purpose of recruiting and retaining outstanding graduate students at UNH.

Henry Wilson Grange, Charles and Elizabeth Webster Scholarship Fund
The Henry Wilson Grange, Charles and Elizabeth Webster Scholarship Fund was established in 1998 by Elizabeth D. Webster to provide scholarship aid to graduating seniors from Farmington, New Hampshire, High School who are attending the College of Life Sciences and Agriculture.

Rosamond L. Granger Scholarship Fund
The Rosamond L. Granger Scholarship Fund was established in 1986 with a distribution from the trust of the late Alfred T. Granger to provide scholarship support to University students.

Granite State Roost Educational Foundation Scholarship

Established in 2000 through the generosity of Dr. Clarence L. "Tiny" Grant, Class of 1951, and Helen M. Garland Grant as an expression of appreciation for the many opportunities provided through their association with UNH, coupled with their belief in the great value of graduate work in Chemistry at UNH, the Clarence L. and Helen M. Garland Grant Fellowship Fund provides summer research fellowships for outstanding graduate students in Chemistry.

Kenneth and Mary Gertrude Grant Endowed Scholarship Fund
The Kenneth and Mary Gertrude Grant Endowed Scholarship Fund was established in 2000 in memory of Kenneth Elvard Grant '41 and Mary Gertrude Howe Grant '41 to provide scholarship support to UNH students participating on the men's or women's track teams.

Gray-White-Shields Scholarship Fund
Established in 2005 by Walter Gray '21 and Beatrice White Gray, the Gray-White-Shields Scholarship Fund provides financial aid scholarships for students from Rochester, New Hampshire, and Saugus and Melrose, Massachusetts.

The John and Marianna Grimes Family Endowment was established in 1999 by John A. "Jack" Grimes and Marianna Reardon Grimes to promote and honor research excellence in the School of Health and Human Services through an annual competition that will provide financial awards to undergraduate and graduate students who design, complete, and present applied research projects in the health care or human services fields.

Caroline L. Gross Award for Outstanding Achievement in Political Science
The Caroline L. Gross Award for Outstanding Achievement in Political Science is awarded annually to political science majors in their senior year who are residents of New Hampshire and who have exhibited characteristics such as academic excellence and a keen interest in public affairs and public service.

Norman J. Grover '35 Endowed Scholarship Fund
The Norman J. Grover '35 Endowed Scholarship Fund was established in 2005 by Cynthia Bradley in memory of her father, Norman James Grover. The fund provides scholarship support for students studying in any engineering major who exhibit financial need, with preference given to New Hampshire residents.

The Russ and Andrea Gullotti Charitable Foundation MBA Scholarship Fund was established in 2001 by Russ Gullotti '80G to provide scholarship support to graduate students enrolled in the masters of business administration program in the Whittemore School of Business and Economics who exhibit financial need and are working to pay their own way through the program.

Gunst/Wilcox Fund for Graduate History Programs
The Gunst/Wilcox Fund for Graduate History Programs was established in 1998 by Richard J. Gunst to provide direct grants to graduate students in the Department of History to enable them to undertake or participate in academic projects and programs that would not otherwise be possible. Additionally, the fund provides financial support to meet other expenses for the benefit and improvement of graduate programs in the Department of History.

Clarence E. Gustafson Fellowship
The Clarence E. Gustafson Fellowship provides fellowship support in the Center for the Humanities. The Gustafson Fellowship can be awarded annually to faculty members, with funds used to pay for replacement faculty, freeing the fellows from all, or a portion, of their teaching responsibilities and providing a valuable opportunity to do research.

Hamel Center for Undergraduate Research
The Hamel Center for Undergraduate Research was established by Dana A. and Kathryn P. Hamel to provide an ongoing source of funding for the International Research Opportunities Program, the Undergraduate Research Opportunities Program, the Research Scholars Program, and other outreach and engagement initiatives in support of undergraduate research at UNH.

Hamel Construction Group Scholarship Fund
This fund was established by J. Edward Hamel ’61. The fund provides scholarship support to students enrolled in the Civil Engineering department who have an interest in pursuing a career in construction management. Annual awards will be split equally between one senior and one junior.

Hamel Scholars Program
This program was established through the generosity of Dana A. Hamel and his children, David Hamel, Douglas Hamel, and Karen Hamel Simas ’88 to attract the best and brightest in-state students to UNH. The program consists of two components: Hamel Family Scholarships are awarded to first-year students and are renewable for students’ second, third and fourth year of full-time enrollment at UNH; Hamel Scholars are juniors selected for their academic success, leadership potential, and engagement in student activities and the community.

Earl ’43 and Ethel Handly Endowed Fund for UNH Professors
This fund, established through the estate of Earl J. ’43 and Ethel E. Handly supports UNH full professors who have demonstrated the highest level of excellence in teaching, scholarship and service over an extended period of time at the university.

The Charles Hanna Memorial Scholarship Fund was established in 1976 by Charles R. Hanna '31 to provide a scholarship each year to a student in good academic standing who is engaged in an intercollegiate sport and demonstrates financial need.

Established in 1982 by the Hannaford Bros. Co., the Hannaford Brothers Endowed Scholarship Fund provides financial support to a junior or senior enrolled in the Whittemore School of Business and Economics in recognition of their academic achievement.

Arnold P. and Della A. Hanson Endowed Scholarship Fund
The Arnold P. and Della A. Hanson Endowed Scholarship Fund was established in 2000 by Arnold P. Hanson '48 and Della A. Hanson to provide four-year scholarships covering the full cost of attendance to career-oriented students from Coos County, New Hampshire, based on financial need, academic merit, and potential for future achievement.

Donald F. Harley Scholarship Fund
The Donald F. Harley Scholarship Fund was established in 2003 by family and friends of Donald F. Harley to provide scholarship support to UNH sophomore or junior student leaders who belong to one of the student activity fee organizations. Recipients must have participated in an organization for at least six months, and must demonstrate strong leadership qualities and academic excellence, as demonstrated by a grade point average of 2.5 or better at the time of nomination.

Ann Weaver Hart Fund for International Study
The Ann Weaver Hart Fund for International Study was established in 2006 in honor of Ann Weaver Hart, the 18th president of the University of New Hampshire, through the generosity of current and former UNH Foundation Board members and staff, as well as her colleagues at UNH.  The fund provides financial assistance to undergraduate students who participate in an international study experience through the Center for International Education.

Established with gifts from Hollis E. and Elizabeth Hewlett Harrington, the Hollis E. and Elizabeth Hewlett Harrington Endowed Fund provides an ongoing source of flexible income to the Whittemore School of Business and Economics to be used where it will have greatest positive impact on students and faculty.

The Karen L. Harrower Undergraduate Research Fund was established in 2000 by Karen L. Harrower '72 to provide research grants to undergraduate students in the Department of Earth Sciences.

The Daniel M. Heath Memorial Scholarship Fund was established in 1971 by Mr. and Mrs. Alfred M. Heath and friends of their son Daniel, who was a senior microbiology major at the time of his death in 1971. Oren V. "Dad" Henderson Memorial Scholarship Fund
Alumni and friends of Oren V. "Dad" Henderson, who served UNH and the state from 1941 to 1951, established the Oren V. "Dad" Henderson Memorial Scholarship Fund. The annual income is used for scholarship purposes.

William G. Hennessy Scholarship Fund
Established in 1963 in honor of Professor Emeritus William G. Hennessy, the William G. Hennessy Scholarship Fund provides scholarship support to students interested in drama who exhibit talent, academic achievement, and financial need.

Established in 2005 by David Hoffenberg '81 and the Sidney Stern Memorial Trust, the Hoffenberg Endowed Fund for Liberal Arts provides discretionary support for the dean of the College of Liberal Arts for faculty research, scholarship awards, and other priorities.

Louis B. Hoffman Fund
The Louis B. Hoffman Fund was established in 1992 by Louis B. Hoffman '19 to provide unrestricted funds for use at the discretion of the University president.

Larry Hogan Scholarship Fund
The Larry Hogan Scholarship Fund was established by the Coleman F. Hogan and Margaret M. Hogan Foundation in memory of their son, Larry Hogan, who was killed in Vietnam in 1971. The fund provides scholarship assistance to qualified UNH students from Southeastern New Hampshire with demonstrated financial need.

Harold A. Holbrook Memorial Scholarship Fund
Established in 1973 by the Board of Directors of the Strafford National Bank in memory of Harold A. Holbrook, former president and chairman of the board, the Harold A. Holbrook Memorial Scholarship Fund provides scholarship support to entering seniors in the Whittemore School of Business and Economics, with preference given to those interested in banking. Recipients must have been residents of Strafford County, New Hampshire, at the time of admission to UNH.

John T. Holden Memorial Fund
The John T. Holden Memorial Fund was established in 2000 by family and friends in memory of Dr. John T. Holden, professor emeritus of political science at UNH. The fund brings academics, journalists, and writers concerned with American political life, such as international relations, economics, sociology, history, and politics, to speak at the UNH campus.

John S. Holland Memorial Scholarship Fund
Family and friends established the John S. Holland Memorial Scholarship Fund in memory of John S. Holland to provide scholarships to students enrolled in the College of Liberal Arts majoring in history or political science, who have maintained a grade point average of at least 2.5 and demonstrated financial need.

Paul J. Holloway Jr. Endowed Fund
The Paul J. Holloway Jr. Endowed Fund was established in 1988 by family and friends of Paul J. Holloway Jr. upon his retirement from the USNH board of trustees to recognize and reward the entrepreneurial spirit. Income from the fund is used to provide annual prizes to Whittemore School of Business and Economics students/teams who submit the most feasible plan during the Holloway Business Plan Competition.

The Robert E. Houston Jr. Family Fund was established in 1993 by Robert E. Houston Jr. professor emeritus of Physics, and Barbara G. Houston, former mathematics instructor. The Barbara G. Houston Math Education Award is presented to the junior mathematics major who best exemplifies interest, enthusiasm and potential in the discipline of mathematics education. The Robert E. Houston Jr. Physics Award is presented to the junior major who best exemplifies interest, enthusiasm and potential in the discipline of physics. For both awards, preference is given to New Hampshire students.

Hutchins Family Fund
The Hutchins Family Fund was established by Laura Jenness and Christopher Hutchins '84, in memory of their daughter, Jacqueline Patricia. The Hutchins Family Fund provides an annual scholarship to an enrolling freshman student from the Londonderry, New Hampshire, High School who has chosen to attend UNH in Durham and who exhibits scholastic merit. Preference is given to female students with financial need.

The Harold A. Iddles Lecture Fund provides financial support for the Department of Chemistry to bring one or more distinguished lecturers to campus each year. Additionally, funds can be used to support graduate students or to purchase books for the chemistry library.

Alvin R. Ingram Graduate Fellowship Fund
Established by the Atlantic Richfield Company and Alvin R. Ingram, the Alvin R. Ingram Graduate Fellowship supports a graduate student in the chemistry department who demonstrates academic performance and research ability, with preference given to Ph.D. candidates.

International 4-H Youth Exchange Fund
The International 4-H Youth Exchange Fund was established by the New Hampshire International 4-H Youth Exchange Committee in memory of Ernest A. George '51 and in tribute to the thousands of volunteers who have helped further 4-H international opportunities for New Hampshire residents. The fund provides financial support for New Hampshire young adults to participate in the Cooperative Extension-sponsored International 4-H Youth Exchange Program.

Endowment for International Studies
The Endowment for International Studies was established in 2001 by Craig W. Abbott '70 to provide financial assistance to UNH undergraduate students participating in University-approved or University-managed study-abroad programs or the International Research Opportunities Program. Preference is given to students studying languages, commerce, financial services, technology, international relations, marine or space sciences.

John C. Irving Memorial Scholarship
The John C. Irving Memorial Scholarship provides scholarship support to a graduate of Manchester, New Hampshire, Central High School, who was active in track and/or cross country during high school, with preference given to entering freshman.

Kenneth L. Isaacs Scholarship Fund
Established in 1961 by Kenneth L. Isaacs, the Kenneth L. Isaacs Scholarship Fund provides scholarship support to students interested in animal sciences, particularly livestock, and who exhibit scholarship and have demonstrated financial need.

Professor and Mrs. C. Floyd Jackson Memorial Scholarship Fund
The Professor and Mrs. C. Floyd Jackson Memorial Scholarship Fund was established in honor of the UNH marine laboratory on Appledore Island with gifts from the alumni of the UNH marine zoological laboratory and alumni of the honorary zoological fraternity, Phi Sigma. The fund provides scholarships to UNH students or New Hampshire residents enrolled in the Shoals Marine Laboratory Program.

Martha L. Foley '76 '96G and William S. Jackson '75 Fund for International Studies
The Martha L. Foley '76 '96G and William S. Jackson '75 Fund for International Studies was established in 2004 by Martha Foley Jackson and William S. Jackson to encourage UNH students from New Hampshire to study abroad. The fund provides financial assistance to allow undergraduate students who are New Hampshire residents and have demonstrated financial need to participate in an international study experience through the Center for International Education or a similar successor program.

Natalie Salatich Jacobson Journalism Scholarship Fund
This fund was established by Natalie Salatich Jacobson ’65. Jacobson was an anchor and reporter for WCVB-TV NewsCenter 5 in Boston for more than 35 years. Her fund will provide scholarship support to a journalism student who recognizes the importance of community and the role that better reporting plays in changing the world. Recipients must be UNH seniors or juniors with a strong background in journalism and a demonstrated financial need.

Marion James Faculty Development Fund
The Marion James Faculty Development Fund was established by alumni, friends, faculty, and staff in honor of Marion James who taught history at UNH for 30 years. The fund provides support for the faculty of the College of Liberal.

Andrew E. Janetos Scholarship Fund
This fund was established by Andrew E. Janetos ’59 to provide need-based scholarship support for engineering students from Strafford County, New Hampshire.

Evelyn Nixon Jardine Endowed Scholarship Fund

The Evelyn Nixon Jardine Endowed Scholarship Fund was established in 1957 by the New Hampshire Society of Medical Technologists and was endowed in 1996 by Lorraine Lowell, following the death of Mrs. Jardine. The fund provides an annual scholarship to a junior or senior studying medical laboratory science who exhibits academic merit and financial need.

 

New Hampshire Library of Traditional Jazz
Established by Dorothy C. Prescott, the New Hampshire Library of Traditional Jazz fund provides financial support to preserve the history and foster the continuance and appreciation of traditional jazz music as an art form by promoting, producing, and sponsoring live and recorded programs and concerts, and lectures and teaching programs.

Lillian M. Johnson Fund
The Lillian M. Johnson Fund was established in 1970 by Lillian M. Johnson in honor of her sister, Mary Joy, whose children are UNH graduates. The fund provides scholarship support to students from New Hampshire, with preference to students residing in Newmarket, New Hampshire.

LeRoy F. Johnson Scholarship Fund
The LeRoy F. Johnson Scholarship Fund was established in 1989 by Marion Johnson in memory of LeRoy F. Johnson. The fund provides scholarship support to deserving undergraduate students who are residents of Manchester, New Hampshire, and graduates of any high school in Manchester, studying at the University for a degree in Civil Engineering.

Basil H. and Alice V. Johnson Endowed Scholarship Fund
Established in 1984 by the Alice Vaughn Johnson Trust Fund, the Basil H. and Alice V. Johnson Endowed Scholarship Fund provides scholarship support to juniors or seniors in recognition of outstanding academic achievement and personal leadership. Students must be majoring in the biological sciences and have attended Central, West, or Memorial high schools in Manchester, New Hampshire.

Frederick K. Johnson Memorial Scholarship Fund
The Frederick K. Johnson Memorial Scholarship and Memorial Award were established by Mrs. Frederic K. (Marjorie Seavey) Johnson to aid qualified and deserving scholar-athletes engaged in intercollegiate football and to recognize the captains and co-captains of the UNH intercollegiate football team.

Charles F. Johnson Fund
The Charles F. Johnson Fund provides support to foster the entrepreneurial spirit at the University's Whittemore School of Business and Economics. The fund provides the Whittemore School dean with financial flexibility to respond to project and activity suggestions that arise during the year.

Richard B. Johnston Memorial Scholarship in Forestry

The Richard B. Johnston Memorial Scholarship in Forestry was established by the parents, Lambda Chi Alpha fraternity brothers, and friends of R. Bruce Johnston '67, who died in action in Vietnam. The fund supports a scholarship for an undergraduate student with demonstrated financial need.

Edith Fredericks Jones Memorial Fellowship
The Edith Fredericks Jones Memorial Fellowship provides scholarship aid to a graduate student at the University of New Hampshire College of Life Sciences and Agriculture whose professional interest is in trees with emphasis on tree protection, improvement, propagation, or growth physiology.

Philip Cowell Jones Scholarship Fund
Established by Elizabeth Jones '22 to honor Philip C. Jones '13, the Philip Cowell Jones Scholarship Fund provides scholarship support to student athletes with demonstrated financial need.

Elizabeth Jones Class of 1922 Scholarship Fund

Established in 1975 by Elizabeth Jones '22, the Elizabeth Jones Class of 1922 Scholarship Fund provides scholarship support to juniors, seniors, or graduate students studying the fine arts, with preference given to New Hampshire residents interested in creative writing or teaching.

 

Helen Duncan Jones Prize
The Helen Duncan Jones Prize was established in 1963 by H. Gwen Jones '27 in honor of her mother, Helen Duncan Jones. The prize is awarded annually to the sophomore woman earning part or all of her way through the University who, in the estimation of the Office of the Dean of Students, shows the greatest promise of outstanding achievement in American citizenship, leadership, and scholarship.

Robert Edmund Jones Fund
Established in 1975 by Elizabeth Jones '22 in honor of her brother, the Robert Edmund Jones Fund provides support for the purchase, care, and storage of books on art and architecture with emphasis on rare books, which are not otherwise readily available but are of value to the student and scholar.

The Tenho S. Kauppinen Scholarship Fund was established in 2003 by Margaret R. Kauppinen in honor of her husband, Tenho S. Kauppinen. The fund provides an annual award to a junior majoring in mechanical engineering who exhibits scholarship and financial need.

Captain Benjamin D. Keating '04 Memorial Fund
This fund was established by family, friends, classmates, teachers, and colleagues of the late Benjamin D. Keating ’04, who died while serving with the U.S. Army in northern Afghanistan. The fund will provide a stipend to undergraduate Classics majors to cover research expenses, build a personal academic library, further academic development, or pursue service opportunities.

Keener Family Scholarship Fund
The Keener Family Scholarship Fund was established in 2001 by Harry A. and Elizabeth M. Keener to provide financial assistance to graduates of Oyster River High School in Durham, New Hampshire, who are enrolled in the College of Life Sciences and Agriculture or the Thompson School of Applied Science and who exhibit financial need, with special consideration given to students who show academic promise but have not yet developed academic strength.

Thomas W. Keller Memorial Scholarship Fund
Established in 1972 by the family of Thomas W. Keller '71, the Thomas W. Keller Memorial Scholarship Fund provides scholarship support to a pre-veterinary major with demonstrated financial need. Preference is given to older students who have made a late career choice, changed their majors, or returned to school after a lapse.

Michael Kelly Journalism Scholarship
The Michael Kelly Journalism Scholarship Fund was established in 2003 by the family and friends of Michael T. Kelly '79, who was killed while traveling with the Army's 3rd Infantry Division in Iraq. The fund provides scholarship support for students with high initiative, energy, and the potential to become successful journalists. Awards are based on journalistic potential without reference to GPA, with preference given to students who are original thinkers and have tangible work and publishing experience.

Kennett R. Kendall Jr. and Patricia C. Kendall Endowed Fund
The Kennett R. Kendall Jr. and Patricia C. Kendall Endowed Fund was established in 2002 by Kennett R. "Skip" Kendall Jr. and Patricia C. "Patsy" Kendall. The fund supports initiatives in the School of Health and Human Services, such as funding opportunities that enhance teaching, research, and scholarship.

The fund provides scholarship support to a kinesiology student who exhibits academic merit, with preference given to juniors majoring in exercise science who demonstrate a commitment to excellence.

Killam Humanities Scholarship Fund
The Killam Humanities Scholarship Fund was established in 2001 by Dr. Jane Killam Oyarzun '63 in honor of her parents, Lydia Belle Chase Killam and Warren Elmer Killam, and her sister and brother, Lydia Joyce Killam Sperry '61 and Jonathan Bartlett Killam '67. The fund provides financial support to undergraduate students majoring in the humanities who demonstrate academic merit, with preference given to students from the Seacoast region of New Hampshire.

Susan Kilmister Memorial Annual Scholarship
The Susan Kilmister Memorial Annual Scholarship provides scholarship support to undergraduate students in recognition of their achievements in academics, extracurricular activities, and personal leadership. Preference is given to members of the UNH field hockey or women's lacrosse teams.

Robert Carroll Kimball Scholarship Fund

Established by Charlotte and Roland B. Kimball '42, professor emeritus of education, the Roland and Charlotte Kimball Faculty Fellowship recognizes members of the faculty of the University's Department of Education. Fellowship award funds support activities relating to the work of award recipients.

Albert Kingsbury Memorial Award
In 1950, the Class of 1899, students, and friends established the Albert Kingsbury Memorial Award in memory of Professor Albert Kingsbury. The fund provides scholarship support to mechanical engineering majors who exhibit proficiency in mechanical engineering, outstanding character, good citizenship, application and development in coursework, and high standing in a broad sense.

Lakes Region Chapter Scholarship Fund
Members of the Lakes Region Chapter of the University of New Hampshire Alumni Association established this fund to provide scholarship support to students from the Lakes Region of New Hampshire. Recipients must be in good academic standing, demonstrate financial need, and be current residents of one of the towns served by the Lakes Region Chapter.

LaMattina Family Graduate Lectureship
John L. LaMattina ’75G and Mary Boyle LaMattina ’74G established this lectureship within the graduate program in Chemistry. Funds will be used to bring to campus speakers who can help graduate-level chemistry students develop professional skills in areas such as team building, networking, and project management.

Rebecca Jane Lang '04 Memorial Fund
The Rebecca Jane Lang '04 Memorial Fund was established in 2005 in memory of Rebecca Jane Lang by her parents Kathleen K. and Robert D. Lang. The fund provides financial support for undergraduate or graduate students who are interested in enhancing their educational experience through field study in archaeology and anthropology. Awards are based on academic merit.

Marie Louise Langelier Scholarship Fund
Established by Wilfred and Marie Langelier, the Marie Louise Langelier Scholarship Fund provides scholarship support to undergraduate students concentrating in chemistry, sanitary engineering, environmental engineering, or the study of environmental chemistry and chemical engineering. The recipient must demonstrate scholastic achievement, good citizenship, and all-round potential, with preference given to students from New England.

Lavallee '71 to honor the nursing profession by providing scholarship support for New Hampshire residents who are undergraduate students enrolled in the Department of Nursing. Awards are based on academic merit and financial need, with preference given to juniors and seniors.

William S. Law Endowed Scholarship Fund
Established in 2000 by William S. Law '34, the William S. Law Endowed Scholarship Fund provides annual scholarships to full-time undergraduate engineering students enrolled in the College of Engineering and Physical Sciences who demonstrate financial need.

Robert G. LeBlanc Memorial Fund
The Robert G. LeBlanc Memorial Fund was established in 2002 through the generosity of family and friends of Robert G. LeBlanc, Class of 1959 and Professor Emeritus of Geography. The fund is intended to support students studying human culture and place, with preference given to geography majors.

The Joan and James Leitzel Center for Mathematics, Science, and Engineering Education was established in 2002 by Leslie S. Hubbard '27, in honor of UNH President Joan R. Leitzel and her late husband, James R.C. Leitzel. The fund establishes a multidisciplinary center for research, development, and demonstration of effective teaching techniques of mathematics, science, and engineering.

The James Leitzel Scholarship Fund was established in 1999 in memory of Dr. James R.C. Leitzel, professor of mathematics, by friends, family, and colleagues. The fund provides scholarship assistance to a student beginning graduate study in mathematics education in the Mathematics Department, with preference given to students attending the summer program for secondary teachers who are working toward a graduate degree and have plans to return to teaching.

Rosamond Emerson Leland Endowment for the Performing Arts
The Rosamond Emerson Leland Endowment for the Performing Arts was established in 2000 by family and friends to honor Rosamond Emerson Leland '37. Established in 1984 by Glen and Margaret Libby in memory of their son, David, the David Owen Libby Memorial Scholarship fund provides financial assistance to students who are full-time matriculants of the master of science in ocean engineering program and who demonstrate academic achievement. Preference is given to candidates with an ocean studies-related engineering background.

Consolidated Library Fund
Established in 1950 by the Durham Library Association, the Consolidated Library Fund provides income for the purchase of books for the benefit of the citizens of Durham, New Hampshire, and students at the University.

Gary H. Lindberg Memorial Scholarship Fund
Established by friends and colleagues, the Gary H. Lindberg Memorial Scholarship Fund provides financial assistance to a full-time undergraduate student majoring in English who exhibits outstanding ability and academic achievement.

Mildred B. Lionstone Scholarship Fund
Established by Mildred B. Lionstone, the Mildred B. Lionstone Scholarship Fund provides scholarship support to a female student from Merrimack County, New Hampshire, who demonstrates high scholastic standing and character.

Ingeborg Lock Endowed Scholarship Fund
The Ingeborg Lock Endowed Scholarship Fund was established in 1997 by Ingeborg Lock, who served the University for more than 20 years. The fund provides scholarship assistance to undergraduate students who demonstrate financial need, with first preference given to dependent children of full-time UNH dining staff and second preference given to non-status, part-time student employees of Dining Services.

Locke Prize Fund
Established in 1931 by Mary D. Carbee in memory of Mr. and Mrs. S. Morris Locke, the Locke Prize Fund provides an annual prize to the senior who has the highest rank in Latin.

S. Morris Locke Scholarship Fund
The S. Morris Locke Scholarship Fund was established in 1931 by Mary D. Carbee in memory of Mr. and Mrs. S. Morris Locke to provide scholarship support to a student majoring in microscopy, chemistry, entomology, or any field where the microscope is employed, with preference given to a student from Haverhill, New Hampshire.

David F. Long Memorial Scholarship Fund
The David F. Long Memorial Scholarship Fund was established in 2001 by his wife, Susan Robinson Long '63 to provide scholarship support to undergraduate students majoring in history.

Frank S. Lord Scholarship Fund
The Frank S. Lord Scholarship Fund was established in 1933 by Frank S. Lord in memory of his parents, Francis Hubbard Lord and Hannah Blaisdell Lord. The fund provides scholarship support to students from Carroll County, New Hampshire.

Nancy E. Lougee Memorial Scholarship
The Nancy E. Lougee Memorial Scholarship fund was established in 1920 by Amos D. Lougee to support scholarships for students from Strafford County, New Hampshire.

Pamela Low Scholarship Fund
The Pamela Low Scholarship Fund was established in 1996 by Pamela Low to provide scholarship support to students studying clinical microbiology who demonstrate academic merit.

Neil Lubow Memorial Scholarship Fund

Carl and Ada Lundholm Memorial Scholarship Fund
In 1968, alumni and friends of Carl J. Lundholm '21 established the Carl and Ada Lundholm Memorial Scholarship Fund. Carl Lundholm served as teacher, coach, and director of Physical Education and Athletics from 1928 to 1967. The fund provides scholarship support to a senior in good academic standing who has demonstrated excellence in leadership, character, and athletics.

The J.C. Lyford Fund provides unrestricted funds for use at the discretion of the University president.

Dr. Gloria G. and Dr. Robert E. Lyle Professorship Fund
The Dr. Gloria G. and Dr. Robert E. Lyle Professorship Fund was established in 1999 by Dr. Gloria G. and Dr. Robert E. Lyle to provide recognition to faculty members within the Department of Chemistry.

The Raymond F. MacDonald Scholarship Fund provides scholarship support to UNH students.

Winslow and June Macdonald Football Scholarship Fund
Established in 2008 by Winslow H. Macdonald ’43, the Winslow and June Macdonald Football Scholarship Fund provides scholarship support to students who are members of the UNH football team, with a preference to students who demonstrate a financial need.

Elda MacGillivray Brooks & Jean Elizabeth Brooks Lord Nursing Scholarship Fund
The Elda MacGillivray Brooks & Jean Elizabeth Brooks Lord Nursing Scholarship Fund was established in memory of Elda MacGillivray Brooks and Jean Elizabeth "Betty" Brooks Lord (mother and daughter) by William J. Lord '43 '53G and Patricia J. Lord Scott, to honor a multi-generational commitment to the nursing profession by the women of the Brooks and Lord families. The fund provides scholarship support for New Hampshire residents pursuing a degree in the Department of Nursing.  First preference may be given to students from Walpole, New Hampshire or Coos County, and to students considered "non-traditional" by University standards.

Harry MacLeod Memorial Scholarship Fund
The friends and family of Harry MacLeod established the Harry MacLeod Memorial Scholarship Fund in 1970 to provide scholarship support to hotel administration majors in the Whittemore School of Business and Economics and food service management majors in the Thompson School of Applied Science.

J. Herbert Marceau Scholarship Fund
The J. Herbert Marceau Scholarship Fund was established in 1948 by Mrs. Frank M. Gunby in memory of her father, J. Herbert Marceau, a professor of languages at UNH from 1918 to 1935. The fund provides scholarship support to "ambitious, worthy, and needy students of sound character."

Marine Docent Endowment Fund
The Marine Docent Endowment Fund was established by friends and docents of the University's Marine Education Program to provide private supplementary support to the UNH Marine Docent Program.

Marine Program Endowment
The Marine Program Endowment was established to benefit marine-related undergraduate and graduate teaching, research, and service at the University.

The Peter G. Markos Chemistry Endowment
Established in 1992 by Peter G. Markos ’71, the Peter G. Markos Chemistry Endowment provides support for the Chemistry Department in the College of Engineering and Physical Sciences.

Thomas O. Marshall Endowed Fund
Friends, colleagues, and former students established Thomas O. Marshall Endowed Fund in honor of the late Thomas O. Marshall, professor of education from 1947 until his retirement in 1973. The fund provides scholarship support to students pursuing their master of education degree.

Margaret and Sut Marshall 4-H Youth Opportunities Fund
The Margaret and Sut Marshall 4-H Youth Opportunities Fund was established in 2002 by C. Sutton Marshall '64 and Margaret Braunstein Marshall '67 to provide financial support to enable New Hampshire Carroll and Coos County youth to participate in programs and activities and to help remove the financial barriers that prevent students from participating in 4-H youth programs, particularly those beyond the student's hometown.

Philip M. Marston Scholarship Fund
The Philip M. Marston Scholarship Fund was established by the friends, family, and colleagues of Philip M. Marston '24 '27G, who taught at UNH from 1924 to 1966. The fund provides scholarship support for history majors specializing in American history, with preference given to students interested in colonial New England history.

Peter J. Martin and Francis X. Martin Endowed Scholarship Fund
The Peter J. Martin and Francis X. Martin Endowed Scholarship Fund was established by Peter J. Martin to provide scholarship assistance to full-time undergraduate and graduate students at UNH.

Commander Ogden J. and Katharine E. Martyn Endowed Fund
The Commander Ogden J. and Katherine E. Martyn Endowed Fund was established in 2004 by Sara-Lee Martyn Browne '57 in honor of her fiftieth class reunion and in memory of her mother and father. This fund provides support for the Students Without Borders engineering program at the University.

Mask and Dagger Achievement Award
Established in 1940 by the Mask and Dagger Society, the Mask and Dagger Achievement Award provides academic achievement awards and scholarships to students who have made the most outstanding artistic contribution to the dramatic work of the University.

Erskine Mason Memorial Prize Fund
Established in 1892 by Mrs. Erskine Mason in memory of her son, the Erskine Mason Memorial Prize Fund provides an award to the senior distinguished for the most consistent progress and achievement.

Jean Mattox Memorial Scholarship in Dance
The Jean Mattox Memorial Scholarship in Dance was established by family, friends, and faculty to provide financial assistance to full-time undergraduate students who are members of the UNH Dance Theatre in recognition of their outstanding talent in dance.

Ann Pazo Mayberry Fund
The Ann Pazo Mayberry Fund was established by George N. Coa to provide financial assistance to students of the Graduate Poetry Writing Program who are not residents of New Hampshire and who demonstrated ability in writing poetry and the potential to further develop as a writer of poetry.

Marcia McCann Endowed Fund
Family and friends of Marcia Clark McCann '71 established the Marcia McCann Endowed Fund to provide financial assistance to graduate students enrolled in the graduate program in counseling in the Department of Education and who have a special interest in career counseling.

John W. McConnell Scholarship Fund
The John W. McConnell Scholarship Fund was established in 1971 by alumni and friends in honor of John W. McConnell, UNH president from 1963 to 1971. The fund provides scholarship support to a member of the junior class who demonstrates academic excellence, overall campus contribution, and financial need.

C. Donald McKelvie Economics Scholarship Fund
The C. Donald McKelvie Economics Scholarship Fund was established in 1995 by John and Betty James to provide scholarship support to students majoring in economics.

Forrest D. McKerley Endowed Chair in Health Economics
The Forrest D. McKerley Endowed Chair in Health Economics was established in 2002 by Forrest D. McKerley '57 to provide financial support to enable the University to attract and retain a national leader in health economics, who, in addition to teaching and research, will participate in the development of statewide policies for the cost-effective provision of quality health care.

McLane Family Endowed Scholarship Fund
Established by the family and friends of Howard Eugene McLane, the McLane Family Endowed Scholarship Fund provides scholarship support to ambitious upperclassmen who are residents of New Hampshire and have financial need.

The Carleton E. Meader Jr. Memorial Hockey Scholarship was established by family and friends of Carleton E. Meader Jr. to provide a scholarship to a member of the UNH hockey team.

Endowed Fund for Mechanical Engineering
Established in 2003, the Endowed Fund for Mechanical Engineering provides a flexible source of funds to support the Mechanical Engineering Department.

Don Melville Scholarship Fund
Established by George Donald Melville, the Don Melville Scholarship Fund provides scholarship support to members of the track and field teams who are not residents of New Hampshire.

Fred W. Menns Scholarship Fund
Established in 1965 by Fred W. Menns, who worked in the barns of the College of Life Sciences and Agriculture for 49 years, the Fred W. Menns Scholarship Fund provides scholarship support to students enrolled in the College of Life Sciences and Agriculture, with preference given to students raised on New Hampshire farms.

Elinor Metcalf Scholarship Fund
The Elinor Metcalf Scholarship Fund was established in 1970 to provide financial assistance to UNH students who are employed at Path Labs, Inc, or who are children of medical technologists employed at hospitals served by Path Lab or Pathologist Professional Association and who have demonstrated an interest in the field of medical technology.

Mid-Atlantic Chapters Scholarship Fund
The Mid-Atlantic Chapters Scholarship Fund was established in 2001 by members of the UNH alumni chapters of Washington, D.C.; Richmond, Virginia; and the Carolinas. The fund provides financial assistance to undergraduate students who demonstrate financial need and academic merit, with preference given to students who are legal residents of the geographical areas served by the Washington, D.C.; Richmond, Virginia; and Carolinas chapters of the UNH Alumni Association.

Edmund G. Miller Scholarship Fund
The Edmund G. Miller Scholarship Fund was established in 2000 by Dr. Edmund G. Miller, professor emeritus of English to provide scholarship support to undergraduate students enrolled in the College of Liberal Arts who exhibit financial need.

The Edmund G. Miller Fund for the Department of English was established by Dr. Edmund G. Miller, professor emeritus of English, to provide support for the Department of English to fulfill the department's educational mission.

Established in 2000 by Dr. Edmund G. Miller, professor emeritus of English, the Edmund G. Miller Art Collection Fund provides financial support to enhance the collections of The Art Gallery, through the acquisition and care of works of art on paper, primarily prints and drawings.

The Edmund G. Miller Library Fund was established in 2000 by Dr. Edmund G. Miller, professor emeritus of English, to provide financial support to enhance the collections of the University Library, with emphasis on, but not limited to, print materials in the humanities.

Established by Helena McElwain Milne, the Douglas and Helena McElwain Milne Fund provides financial support for the Douglas M. and Helena McElwain Milne Special Collection room of the Dimond Library.

Douglas M. Milne Fund
Established in 1984 by Helena McElwain Milne, the Douglas M. Milne Fund provides funds to purchase fishing books to be added to the Douglas and Helena Milne Rare Book Collection.

Helena M. Milne Endowed Fund
The Helena M. Milne Endowed Fund was established in 1993. In addition to unrestricted uses, the fund supports the Milne Collection within the Dimond Library.

Minigan Family Endowed Scholarship Fund
The Minigan Family Endowed Scholarship Fund was established in 2000 by Michael J. Minigan '78 and his wife, Elizabeth Keegan Minigan to provide scholarship support based on financial need for students attending UNH from Beverly, Massachusetts, or Gilford, New Hampshire.

J. Todd Minor ’76 Endowed Scholarship Fund for Life Sciences
Established in 2008 by J. Todd Minor ’76, the J. Todd Minor ’76 Endowed Scholarship Fund for Life Sciences provides need-based scholarship support to students enrolled in the College of Life Sciences and Agriculture.

Arthur J. Mirabile Scholarship
The Arthur J. Mirabile Scholarship was established by the friends, family, colleagues, and students of Arthur J. Mirabile and a challenge grant from the Frederick Smyth Institute of Music. The fund provides an annual scholarship to a student enrolled full-time at the University who attended the Summer Youth Music School and has the potential to be, or is, a high-level contributor to a musical ensemble at UNH. The award recipient should be a musician of the highest caliber, with preference given to students who are from the greater Manchester area.

Robert J. and Mary E. Mitchell Scholarship Fund
The Robert J. and Mary E. Mitchell Scholarship Fund was established in 1995 by Marion Mitchell Cutts to provide scholarship support to occupational therapy majors of outstanding ability and morals who demonstrate financial need.

Marty Mitchell Scholarship Fund
The Marty Mitchell Scholarship Fund was established in 1991 by family and friends in recognition of Marty Mitchell's 50 years of service to agriculture in New Hampshire as vocational agriculture teacher and State Department of Education supervisor. The fund provides scholarship assistance to New Hampshire residents who are juniors and seniors studying within the University's College of Life Sciences and Agriculture, with preference given to students in the vocational technical agricultural education program.

Roger E. Montgomery Memorial Scholarship Fund
The Roger E. Montgomery Memorial Scholarship Fund was established in 1931 by the Class of 1929 to provide unrestricted scholarship support.

Andrew Mooradian Endowed Scholarship Fund
Established in 1995 by family, friends, and the University community in memory of Andy Mooradian, the Andrew Mooradian Endowed Scholarship Fund provides a permanent source of support for the UNH men's football team.

Professor Herbert C. "Dinty" Moore Memorial Fund
The Professor Herbert C. "Dinty" Moore Memorial Fund was established in 1990 by the New Hampshire Milk Dealers Association to provide income for the discretionary use of the dean of the College of Life Sciences and Agriculture, for merit scholarships, undergraduate research grants, and student recruitment.

George M. Moore Scholarship Fund
Established in 1970 by friends of the late Professor George M. Moore, a UNH zoologist for 23 years, the George M. Moore Scholarship Fund is awarded to an advanced zoology student to finance a summer's work at a marine biological station not situated at UNH.

Winthrop P. Moore Annual Lecture in Marine Science Fund
The Winthrop P. Moore Annual Lecture in Marine Science Fund provides funds to support an annual lecture in marine science, promoting public awareness of the role of oceans in modern civilization.

Ruth Taber Morrell Endowed Scholarship Fund
Established by the family and friends of Ruth Morrell, the Ruth Taber Morrell Endowed Scholarship Fund provides scholarship support to sophomore students who are residents of New Hampshire, with preference given to residents of the North Country.

James D. Morrison Chemistry Dissertation Year Fellowship Fund
The James D. Morrison Chemistry Dissertation Year Fellowship Fund was established by alumni and friends of the University in 1998 to provide funds to help the chemistry department attract outstanding graduate students. The fund provides dissertation-year fellowships to allow graduate students to concentrate on their research without the pressures of a teaching assistantship.

Kenneth S. Morrow Scholarship Fund
Established in 1966 by alumni and friends of Kenneth S. Morrow, professor in the Department of Animal and Nutritional Sciences for 32 years, the Kenneth S. Morrow Scholarship Fund provides scholarship support based on academic merit to animal sciences majors whose central interest is dairy science.

Richard A. Morse Scholarship Fund
Established in 1981 in honor of Richard A. Morse, the Richard A. Morse Scholarship Fund provides scholarship assistance to undergraduate students who participate in the performing arts. Awards are based on academic achievement, significant participation in the performing arts, and overall contribution to the University, with preference given to New Hampshire residents who are enrolled in the humanities or who are majoring in, or who are substantially involved in on an extracurricular basis, music, theater, or dance.

Mortar Board Merit Scholarship
Members of UNH's chapter of the Mortar Board Society established the Mortar Board Merit Scholarship to recognize annually the junior who is distinguished academically and by leadership service.

Multicultural Recruitment and Retention Fund
The Multicultural Recruitment and Retention Fund provides financial assistance to undergraduate minority students based on academic merit.

University Museum Fund
The University Museum fund was established in 1992 by the Class of 1932, Class of 1937, and Class of 1958 to underwrite the activities of the UNH Museum, including, but not limited to, exhibits, preparation and preservation expenses, wages, special projects, and the purchases of art objects at the discretion of the museum curator.

UNH Musical Theatre Endowment Fund
The UNH Musical Theatre Endowment Fund was established by alumni, faculty, staff, and "Friends of Music Theatre" to support musical theatre projects, programs, and other special needs.

The fund provides scholarship support to a female resident of New Hampshire who is enrolled at UNH and who demonstrates financial need.

Established in 1930 by members of the New Hampshire Branch of National Civic Federation, the New Hampshire Branch National Civic Foundation Endowment provides scholarship support to "the junior woman majoring in economics, who, by excellence of scholarship, character, and promise of leadership, is judged most worthy."

National Prime Users Group Endowed Scholarship
The National Prime Users Group Endowed Scholarship was established by the National Prime Users Group board of directors in recognition of the positive contributions made to NPUG and its members by the University's Department of Research Computing. The fund provides undergraduate scholarships to computer science and electrical engineering students who exhibit financial need and academic achievement.

Edward A. Necker Fund
Established by Edward A. Necker, the Edward A. Necker Fund provides scholarship support to student athletes.

Edith Converse Neff and Allen Whitaker Neff Forestry Scholarship
The Edith Converse Neff and Allen Whitaker Neff Forestry Scholarship was established in 2003 by Edith Converse Neff '44 and Allen Whitaker Neff '44, who were fellow forestry students at UNH. The fund provides scholarship support for undergraduate or graduate students enrolled in the forestry program in the College of Life Science and Agriculture who exhibit academic merit and financial need.

Maureen Neistadt Scholarship Fund
The Maureen Neistadt Scholarship Fund was established 2003 by family and friends of Dr. Maureen E. Neistadt, an associate professor in the Occupational Therapy Department. The fund provides scholarship support to students enrolled in the occupational therapy program based on merit, and will recognize students who best exemplify the characteristics of caring, concern for others, and commitment to the occupational therapy profession.

Charles W. and Miriam Ross Nelson Fund for Business Innovation
Established in 2002 by Charles W. and Miriam Ross Nelson, the Charles W. and Miriam Ross Nelson Fund for Business Innovation provides a flexible source of support for business initiatives in the Whittemore School of Business and Economics.

Maurice E. Nerbonne Scholarship Fund
Established with a bequest from Maurice E. Nerbonne '34, the Maurice E. Nerbonne Scholarship Fund provides scholarship support to a graduate of Manchester, New Hampshire, Central High School who demonstrates financial need.

J. Bonnie Newman Scholarship Fund
J. Bonnie Newman, the former interim president of the University of New Hampshire, established this fund to provide scholarship support to students enrolled in the Whittemore School of Business and Economics who demonstrate an interest in and commitment to the economic vitality of and quality of life in the state of New Hampshire. Recipients must demonstrate a financial need and be in good academic standing.

Next Horizon Student Scholarship Fund
The Next Horizon Student Scholarship Fund was established by alumni and friends in response to The Next Horizon: The Campaign for the University of New Hampshire, the UNH Foundation's 1999-2002 capital campaign. The fund provides scholarship support to students with demonstrated financial need and/or unique academic merit.

Austin Nickerson Memorial Scholarship Fund
The Austin Nickerson Memorial Scholarship Fund was established by the family and friends of Austin Nickerson to provide annual scholarship assistance to a full-time New Hampshire resident undergraduate student who demonstrates financial need.

William Nicol Memorial Fund
Established in 1999 by friends of the Nicol family, the William Nicol Memorial Fund provides scholarships to full-time undergraduate or graduate students who have a satisfactory academic record and show promise in the areas of choral conducting or organ.

Frank R. and Patricia S. Noonan International Research Fund
The Frank R. and Patricia S. Noonan International Research Fund was established in 2002 by Frank R. Noonan '64 and Patricia S. Noonan. The fund provides financial assistance to allow undergraduate students to participate in a University-approved international research experience, through the International Research Opportunities Program or a similar successor program.

Bertha I. Norton Endowed Scholarship Fund
Established by Bertha Norton, the Bertha I. Norton Endowed Scholarship Fund provides scholarship support to a worthy student who is a graduate of Portsmouth, New Hampshire, High School.

Leonard P. Novak Memorial Award
The Leonard P. Novak Memorial Award was established by members of the Food Service Equipment Distributors Association of New England to provide scholarship support to a student who exhibits academic achievement and is enrolled in the four-year hotel administration program of the Whittemore School of Business and Economics or the two-year food service management program of the Thompson School of Applied Science. Preference is given to residents of New England who are children of persons employed in the food service equipment business or to children of those employed in food service itself.

Established in 1987 by Donald G. O'Brien, the Donald O'Brien Fund provides a flexible source of funds to encourage undergraduate students in the College of Engineering and Physical Sciences to pursue liberal arts studies as part of their curriculum.

Occupational Therapy 50th Anniversary Endowment for Undergraduate Research
In celebration of the fiftieth anniversary of the Department of Occupational Therapy in 1995, the Occupational Therapy 50th Anniversary Endowment for Undergraduate Research was established by alumni and friends. The fund encourages and assists UNH students who engage in research with faculty mentors.

Gunnar B. Olsson Scholarship Fund
Established by his wife, the Gunnar B. Olsson Memorial Scholarship Fund provides scholarship assistance to worthy undergraduate students enrolled in the College of Life Sciences and Agriculture or the Thompson School of Applied Science who demonstrate leadership potential. Preference is given to New Hampshire residents who are dairy-oriented and have a strong 4-H background.

Gary R. O'Neal Musical Theatre Scholarship Fund
The Gary R. O'Neal Musical Theatre Scholarship Fund was established by Gary O'Neal '73 to provide scholarship aid to undergraduate students with an interest in musical theatre in recognition of their achievements in performance and/or production in the programs of musical theatre, dance, and music.

Roland H. O'Neal Professorship
Established by Virginia R. O'Neal, the Roland H. O'Neal Professorship enhances the compensation available to select faculty in recognition of their particular talents, either by hiring new faculty or by recognizing outstanding existing faculty.

Dorothy Perkins O'Neil '42 Endowed Fund
The Dorothy Perkins O'Neil '42 Endowed Fund was established in 1999 by Dorothy O'Neil to provide support to full-time students who are involved in undergraduate research in the area of human nutrition.

Ordway Fund
Established in 1934 by Martha H. Ordway, the Ordway Fund provides scholarship support to students from Hampstead or Sandown, New Hampshire.

Albert N. Otis Scholarship Fund
The Albert N. Otis Scholarship Fund was established by Albert N. Otis 1903 to provide scholarship support to a New Hampshire resident on the basis of "character, need, diligence, and potential citizenship."

The Paine Fund for Freshwater Research was established in 2001 by individuals who have a deep interest in the preservation of New Hampshire's water resources to provide research grants to undergraduate students pursuing projects in freshwater biology and similar disciplines relating to the quality of freshwater resources, with preference given to students pursuing projects relating to the management of New Hampshire's lakes and streams.

The UNH Parents Association Student Enrichment Endowment was established to provide a permanent funding source for enrichment programs, services, and purposes benefiting undergraduate students of the University.

UNH Parents Association Endowed Scholarship Fund
The UNH Parents Association Endowed Scholarship Fund was established in 2001 by the UNH Parents Association in response to The Next Horizon: The Campaign for the University of New Hampshire. The fund provides support to students who have demonstrated financial need and who also demonstrate academic achievement, good character, involvement in the university community or in community service projects, and/or who are making financial contributions to their education through employment.

The UNH Parents Association Endowed Fund for Academic Enrichment provides support to bring visiting scholars, musicians, artists, and others to campus to enhance the total academic program of the University.

UNH Parents Association Undergraduate Research Opportunities Program Endowment
The UNH Parents Association Undergraduate Research Opportunities Program Endowment was established by the Parents' Fund to provide support for a Summer Undergraduate Research Fellowship award.

Ralph J. and Aline Walsh Parker Endowed Scholarship Fund
The Ralph J. and Aline Walsh Parker Endowed Scholarship Fund was established in 1999 in memory of Ralph J. Parker '42 by his wife, Aline Walsh Parker '43. The fund provides annual scholarship support for New Hampshire resident students who are full-time matriculants of the University and who exhibit financial need, with preference given to students from Cheshire County, New Hampshire.

George Downes Parnell Memorial Scholarship Fund
The George Downes Parnell Memorial Scholarship Fund was established by the Class of 1925 in memory of George Downes Parnell, who died while serving in World War I. The fund provides unrestricted scholarship support.

The Peter T. Paul Endowed Chair in Space Sciences was established in 2001 by Peter T. Paul '67, president of Headlands Group, LLC, and owner and chairman of Grove Street Winery. The Peter T. Paul Endowed Chair in Space Sciences conducts research and teaching of space sciences to shape one of the most distinguished programs in space sciences in the United States.

Dr. Samuel E. Paul Endowed Chair in Developmental Psychology
The Dr. Samuel E. Paul Endowed Chair in Developmental Psychology was established in 2001 by Peter T. Paul to honor his father, Dr. Samuel E. Paul. The mission of this endowed chair is to promote interdisciplinary research and teaching between the Child Study and Development Center, the Family Research Laboratory, the Institute on Disability, the Departments of Sociology, Psychology, Social Work, Family Studies, Education, Health Management and Policy and the Program in Community Development.

The Samuel N. and Sarah A. Paul International Research Fund was established in 2001 by Samuel N. This fund was established in 2008 by Sally Perkins Small ’59 and Jefferson A. Small ’59 to provide hands-on livestock education programs to allow for real world agricultural experiences.

Robert G. Perrault Memorial Scholarship Fund
The Robert G. Perrault Memorial Scholarship Fund was established by Dr. Gerard R. Perrault '35 and Marie E. Lavallee Perrault in memory of their son, Robert G. Perrault. The fund provides scholarship assistance to an incoming freshman who has graduated from a Nashua, New Hampshire, High School or from other secondary schools in the Nashua and Hudson, New Hampshire, area who demonstrate financial need and scholastic ability.

The Dr. Ruth Peters Memorial Award was established in 1964 by Dr. Mary Fieser in memory of her sister who taught mathematics at UNH. The fund provides an award to a mathematics major with a deep interest in math and who evidences creativity in the field.

Established in 1996 by Constantine A. Petmezas, the Constantine A. Petmezas Scholarship Fund provides scholarship assistance to a deserving and qualified Greek student so that they may pursue graduate studies at the University.

Established in 1939-40 in memory of Mrs. Charles H. (Luella) Pettee, the Luella Pettee Fund provides scholarship support to worthy undergraduate women with demonstrated financial need.

The Phi Mu Delta Scholarship Fund was established in 1982 to provide financial assistance to children of brothers of the Nu Beta Chapter of the Phi Mu Delta fraternity initiated prior to June 30, 1981.

The Pickett Family Scholarship Fund was established in 2004 to provide scholarship support for deserving students from Portsmouth, New Hampshire, High School who major in business administration at the Whittemore School of Business and Economics and who demonstrate merit and financial need.

Rosecrans W. Pillsbury Fund
Established in 1903 by the Honorable Rosecrans W. Pillsbury, the Rosecrans W. Pillsbury Fund provides scholarship support to students who are residents of Londonderry, New Hampshire.

Francois Pitavy Scholarship Fund
The Francois Pitavy Scholarship Fund was established by the French Department for the junior year in France program in honor of Professor Francois Pitavy, who served as on-site director for UNH students for three decades.

Bill and Hazel Pizzano Football Scholarship Fund
The Bill and Hazel Pizzano Football Scholarship Fund was established in 2003 by William C. "Bill" and Hazel Drapeau Pizzano to provide scholarship support for students participating on the men's football team. Awards are based on athletic ability and academic promise, with preference given to the position of quarterback.

The New Hampshire Poultry Growers 4-H Fund provides support to New Hampshire 4-H poultry programs and projects.

Governor Wesley Powell Scholarship Fund
Established by Beverly Powell Woodward, the Governor Wesley Powell Scholarship Fund provides financial assistance to a full-time UNH undergraduate who demonstrates financial need, a satisfactory academic record, and an interest in public service expressed through a course of study and on- and off-campus extracurricular activities.

Lester A. Pratt Graduate Scholarship Fund
Established by Ardene B. Pratt in memory of her husband, Lester A. Pratt 1909, the Lester A. Pratt Graduate Scholarship Fund provides scholarship support to the most worthy student desiring to obtain a master's or doctor's degree in chemistry.

Prescott Family Fund
The Prescott Family Fund was established in 2003 by Robert Rankin Prescott, Theodore Lewis Prescott, and Melissa Clemence in memory of Robert Sedgwick Prescott, Samuel Chase Prescott, and Eleanor Prescott Clemence. The fund provides financial support to enhance the New Hampshire Library of Traditional Jazz in Dimond Library.

Lola M. Preston Endowed Scholarship Fund

James A. Purington Scholarship Fund
The James A. Purington Scholarship Fund was established in 1973 by the friends, family, and colleagues of James A. Purington '16, who served for more than forty years as an agricultural agent in Rockingham County, New Hampshire, and as 4-H club agent for the Cooperative Extension Service. The fund provides scholarship support to students pursing a master's degree who are interested in the field of agriculture and are planning to pursue an occupation concerned with farming, farm service industries, extension work, or other educational work directly related to the field of agriculture.

Putnam Memorial Scholarship Fund
The Putnam Memorial Scholarship Fund was established in 1931 by George Martin Putnam in memory of his parents, sister, and members of the Eastman/Putnam families who were among the earliest settlers to the Town of Hopkinton, New Hampshire. The fund provides scholarship support to students enrolled in agriculture-related or home economics-related programs of the Thompson School.

Hamilton S. Putnam Scholarship Fund
Established in 1986 in honor of Hamilton S. Putnam by friends and colleagues in the New Hampshire Medical Society, the Hamilton S. Putnam Scholarship Fund provides assistance to sophomores and juniors enrolled in the School of Health and Human Services who demonstrate academic achievement in health-related studies as well as intentions to pursue a career in a health-related field.

Frank W. Randall Memorial Scholarship Fund
The Frank W. Randall Memorial Scholarship Fund was established by former University trustee, Austin J. Hubbard, in honor of Frank W. Randall '07, who served as a trustee of the University from 1936 until his death in 1968, and his wife, Vida. The fund provides scholarship support to students who are New Hampshire residents and have financial need.

Avery E. Rich Memorial Scholarship
Established in 1996 by family, friends, and colleagues in memory of Dr. Avery E. Rich, the Avery E. Rich Memorial Scholarship provides scholarship support to a senior plant biology major who demonstrates academic achievement and financial need.

Alfred Ernest Richards Scholarship Fund
Established in 1948 by Mrs. Alfred E. Richards in memory of her husband, a professor of English at the University for 34 years, the Alfred Ernest Richards Scholarship Fund provides scholarship support to an undergraduate or graduate English major whose aspires to teach.

S. Melvin Rines Endowed Fund
Established by S. Melvin Rines '47, the S. Melvin Rines Endowed Fund provides support to the Whittemore School of Business and Economics for use in promoting greater understanding among faculty and students of the opportunities associated with international business development.

S. Melvin and Mary Jo Rines Art Exhibition Fund
The S. Melvin and Mary Jo Rines Art Exhibition Fund was established in 2001 by S. Melvin Rines '47 and Mary Jo Rines to allow the University to bring traveling art exhibitions of high quality to The Art Gallery for the education and enjoyment of UNH students and the University community.

Dean Roger A. Ritvo Endowed Award Fund
The Dean Roger A. Ritvo Award Fund was established in 1997 with gifts from alumni, students, colleagues, and friends to honor Dr. Roger A. Ritvo for a decade of distinguished leadership as the dean of the School of Health and Human Services. The fund provides an annual award to a faculty member and a student in the School of Health and Human Services who are working collaboratively on a community service or research project outside of the classroom.

Louise Hartwell Rogers Piano Scholarship Fund
The Louise Hartwell Rogers Piano Scholarship Fund was established by family, friends, and colleagues of Louise Hartwell Rogers. Louise Hartwell Rogers was a member of the faculty of the music department from 1967 to 1976. The fund provides scholarship assistance to undergraduate or graduate students who are studying piano.

Daniel B. Rogers '43 and Beatrice N. Rogers Endowed Fund
Established in 1997, the Daniel B. Rogers '43 and Beatrice N. Rogers Endowed Fund provides scholarship assistance and/or research fellowships to New Hampshire resident students who are enrolled at the School of Health and Human Services, and who are pursuing a major course of study that will lead them to service or research with populations of individuals who may have some form of mental illness.

Timothy J. Rogers Memorial Scholarship Fund
The Timothy J. Rogers Memorial Scholarship Fund was established in 1999 in memory of Timothy J. Rogers '59 by his wife, Elizabeth S. Rogers. The fund provides financial support to undergraduate students majoring or minoring in Spanish who spend a semester or an academic year participating in a study abroad program in Spain.

The Sam Rosen Prize Fund was established in 1986 by colleagues and former students of Dr. Sam Rosen, professor of economics who retired 1985 after twenty-eight years of service, and friends of the Whittemore School. The fund provides an award to the senior economics major with the highest GPA in courses that are attributed to the economics major.

William Rosenberg International Center of Franchising
Established in 1984 by William Rosenberg, the William Rosenberg International Center of Franchising provides a margin of excellence in the area of franchising and entrepreneurial studies, allowing the Whittemore School of Business and Economics to pursue activities or individuals not normally provided for in the operating budget.

John C. Rouman Classical Lecture Series Fund
Established in 1997 by Mary and Christos Papoutsy, the John C. Rouman Classical Lecture Series Fund promotes and enhances awareness of the Classics both at UNH and beyond.

John C. Rouman Scholarship Fund
The John Rouman Scholarship was established in 2000 by the family and friends of John C. Rouman, professor emeritus of Classics, to provide scholarship support to first- or second-year students who excel in both Greek and Latin languages at the advanced level.

Longtime UNH football supporters E. Chandler ’55 and Ann B. Sanborn established this fund to provide scholarships to student-athletes on the UNH football team. Preference will be given to a place kicker or punter with demonstrated financial need.

Smith Sanborn Lecture Fund

Mr. and Mrs. Roland D. Sawyer Jr. established the Reverend Roland Douglas Sawyer and Mary Palmer Sawyer Scholarship Fund in 1979 in memory of Reverend Roland Sawyer and Mary Palmer Sawyer. The fund facilitates the research use of the Sawyer Collection in the Dimond Library by providing scholarship support to students who are studying for a career in archival work or proposing a research project that reflects Reverend Sawyer's interests in religious, political, or social reform.

The Dr. Philip J. Sawyer Fund was established in 2002 by Philip J. Sawyer, alumnus and professor emeritus of zoology. The fund provides funding to support and expand the bioscience collection in the Library.

Luther and Ruth Cross Shatterly Fund for Engineering
The Luther and Ruth Cross Shatterly Fund for Engineering was established in 2000 by Ruth Cross Shatterly '41 in memory of her father, George G. Cross Sr. an electrical engineer. The fund provides need-based scholarship and fellowship support to graduate and undergraduate students engaged in the study of mechanical or civil engineering.

Recipients must be New Hampshire residents, have good academic standing, and demonstrate financial need.

The A. Barr "Whoop" Snively Scholarship Fund was established in 1966 by family, alumni, friends, and former players to memorialize A. Barr "Whoop" Snively, coach of hockey, lacrosse, and football at UNH from 1953 to 1964. The fund provides annual scholarship support to one third-year student athlete who has participated in hockey, lacrosse, or football.

Pauline Soukaris Memorial Scholarship
The Pauline Soukaris Memorial Scholarship was established in 2005 by Cynthia Barnes '72, Dr. Everett W. Barnes Jr. '72G, and family to honor Pauline Soukaris, a professor and chairperson in the Department of Social Services. The fund provides scholarship support for undergraduate students enrolled in the Department of Social Work within the School of Health and Human Services who demonstrate academic merit and financial need.

Herbert D. Soule Memorial Scholarship Fund
The Herbert D. Soule Memorial Scholarship Fund was established in 2000 by Thelma Marshall Soule '49 in memory of her husband, Herbert D. Gould '49 '52G. The fund provides scholarship assistance to students majoring in microbiology who demonstrate financial need.

Norma and John Spaven Scholarship Fund
The Norma and John Spaven Scholarship Fund was established in 1992 by Norma Morse Spaven '38. The fund provides scholarship support for students enrolled in the College of Liberal Arts.

Robert J. and Linda B. Spear Endowed Scholarship Fund
The Robert J. and Linda B. Spear Endowed Scholarship Fund was established in 2001 by Robert J. Spear '78 and his wife, Linda B. Spear. The fund provides financial assistance to students enrolled in the Whittemore School of Business and Economics who demonstrate academic merit and financial need.

Richard N. St. Onge Memorial Scholarship Fund
Established in 2001 by Dana F. Schow, the Richard N. St. Onge Memorial Scholarship Fund is dedicated to the memory of Dr. Richard Norbert St. Onge, professor of physics at UNH from 1936 to 1975. The fund provides scholarship support for undergraduate students majoring in physics within the College of Engineering and Physical Sciences who demonstrate financial need and academic merit.

Donald E. Steele Memorial Scholarship Fund
The Donald E. Steele Memorial Scholarship Fund provides scholarship support for a piano major most notable for talent, industry, and high professional goals.

E. Ruth Buxton Stephenson Memorial Fund
Established in 1999 by her classmates, extended family, friends, and her sons, Robert B. Stephenson and John B. Stephenson, the E. Ruth Buxton Stephenson Memorial Fund provides support for the Special Collections and Archives of the Dimond Library as well as activities of the University Museum.

William C. and Doris E. Sterling Scholarship Fund
Established by the Sterling Family, the William C. and Doris E. Sterling Scholarship Fund provides scholarship assistance to full-time undergraduates who demonstrate academic merit, with preference given to students pursuing careers in education.

Clark L. Stevens Scholarship in Forestry
Established in 1964 by alumni and the Department of Forestry, the Clark L. Stevens Scholarship in Forestry honors Clark L. Stevens '17, professor of Forestry, for his long and distinguished service to the state and the University. Awards are made annually to students enrolled in forest resources and wildlife programs within the College of Life Sciences and Agriculture.

Morris A. Stewart Fund
The Morris A. Stewart Fund provides unrestricted funds for use at the discretion of the University president.

Charles Stillings Trust
The Charles Stillings Trust was established in 1950 by Charles E. Stillings in memory of his father, Charles M. Stillings, to provide scholarship support to University students "of good scholastic ability, sound moral character, and unquestioned loyalty to the United States."

Edward Stolworthy Scholarship Fund
The Edward Stolworthy Scholarship Fund was established by Edward H. Stolworthy and George E. Stolworthy to recognize a promising student of good scholastic achievement who has demonstrated concern for furthering the interests of the college. Awards will be made to juniors enrolled in the College of Engineering and Physical Sciences for use in their senior year.

Charles A. and Florence Weast Stone Scholarship Fund
The Charles A. and Florence Weast Stone Scholarship Fund was established in 1990 by Charles A. and Florence Weast Stone. Awards are made annually to any student who has majored in and completed two semesters in the Department of Animal and Nutritional Sciences within the College of Life Sciences and Agriculture, with preference given to students who are residents of New Hampshire.

Fred Weare Stone Memorial Scholarship Fund
The Fred Weare Stone Memorial Scholarship Fund was established in 1933 by the Class of 1930 in honor of Fred Weare Stone '21, who died in World War I. Scholarships are based on financial need and acceptable academic standing, with preference given, but not limited to, applicants of lineal or collateral descent from members of the Class of 1930.

Ruth Cheney Streeter Scholarship Fund
The Ruth Cheney Streeter Scholarship Fund provides annual scholarships to a female student for her senior year at the University.

Francis J. and Virginia K. Sullivan Football Scholarship Fund
The Francis J. and Virginia K. Sullivan Football Scholarship Fund was established by Francis J. Sullivan Jr. '52 and Virginia K. Sullivan to provide annual scholarship support to a New Hampshire resident student who is a member of the intercollegiate football team.

Timothy W. Sullivan Memorial Scholarship Fund
The Timothy W. Sullivan Memorial Scholarship Fund was established in 2006 through the generosity of the family and friends of Timothy W. Sullivan.   The fund provides support to a student pursuing a bachelor's degree in computer science who demonstrates financial need and possesses the same characteristics of love for the computer industry, compassion, and honesty that Tim Sullivan did.

Colonel Samuel J. Sutherland Scholarship Fund
The Colonel Samuel J. Sutherland Scholarship Fund was established in 1966 by Mr. and Mrs. Dura P. Crockett to memorialize Colonel Samuel J. Sutherland, professor of military science at the University from 1914 to 1917. Preference is given to a student from Bradford, New Hampshire.

Paul C. Sweet Scholarship Fund
The Paul C. Sweet Scholarship Fund was established in 1959 by alumni and friends of Professor Paul C. Sweet, who served as faculty member and track coach at the University. This fund supports students who possess good academic standing and ability in track.

The George A. Taft Memorial Scholarship Fund was established in 2000 in memory of George A. Taft '65 '68G by his wife, Linda S. Taft '63 and his children, Michael '91 and Jennifer '91. This fund provides scholarship support to undergraduate students majoring in electrical engineering within the College of Engineering and Physical Sciences who demonstrate financial need, with preference given to students with high academic standing.

Technical Association of Pulp and Paper Industry Scholarship
The Technical Association of Pulp and Paper Industry Endowed Scholarship was established by the Technical Association of Pulp and Paper Industry, ME-NH section to provide scholarship support to a junior or senior enrolled in the chemical engineering program as a full-time student in recognition of academic and extracurricular achievements.

Temple Beth Israel Endowed Scholarship Fund
The Temple Beth Israel Endowed Scholarship Fund was established in 1992 by members of the Temple Beth Israel in Berlin, New Hampshire, to provide financial assistance to a full-time undergraduate student who has attained at least sophomore status and who satisfies the membership requirements for the University student organization, Hillel, or its successor organization. The recipient shall demonstrate high academic achievement and have a financial need with preference given to students participating in the University Honors Program.

Terragni Family Scholarship Fund
Established in 2002 by Andrew Terragni and Rose LeBlanc, the Terragni Family Scholarship Fund provides financial support to students who are New Hampshire residents and who exhibit financial need.

Theatre Education Endowed Fund
The Theatre Education Endowed Fund was established by alumni, friends, corporations, and foundations to enable and enhance UNH theatre and its outreach programs in New Hampshire and regional communities, and to encourage and inspire a greater interest in theatre performance and education among students at all levels.

Theo-Steelman Public Service Fellowship Fund
The Steelman Public Service Fellowship Fund was established in 1999 by David C. Steelman and Dr. Virginia Theo-Steelman to provide stipends for undergraduate students in the School of Health and Human Sciences to complete full-time summer service learning experiences in the public service sector. Steelman Fellows are selected on a competitive basis and assigned to cooperating health and human services agencies to provide needed services for vulnerable and disadvantaged populations.

Charles W. and Jacqueline F. Thompson Forestry Scholarship
The Charles W. and Jacqueline F. Thompson Forestry Scholarship was established in 2005 by Charles W. Thompson '66 and Jacqueline Flynn Thompson '65 to provide scholarship support for undergraduate students enrolled in the forestry program in the College of Life Sciences and Agriculture who have successfully completed the first year of study in their chosen major. Awards are based on financial need with preference first given to students from Wilmot, New Hampshire, and then to residents of Merrimack County, New Hampshire.

Theron A. Thorp Memorial Scholarship Fund
Established in 1971 by LaVeta K. Thorp in memory of her husband, Theron A. Thorp '10, the Theron A. Thorp Memorial Scholarship Fund provides scholarship support to University students.

Loring V. "Cy" Tirrell Scholarship Fund
The Loring V. "Cy" Tirrell Scholarship Fund was established in 1959 by friends and former students to honor Professor Loring V. "Cy" Tirrell, a teacher for 41 years in the Department of Animal and Nutritional Sciences. The fund supports upper-class animal science majors in good academic standing who demonstrate financial need.

UNH Tolerance Programming Fund
The UNH Tolerance Programming Fund was established by William Kidder to provide financial support to campus programs whose purpose is to eliminate intolerance related to sexual orientation.

Tracy Family Scholarship Fund
The Tracy Family Scholarship Fund was established in 2001 by Terence G. Tracy '80 and Mary Petrazzolo Tracy to provide scholarship support for undergraduate students in the Whittemore School of Business and Economics. Awards are based on financial need and academic merit.

James H. Trainor Memorial Scholarship Fund
The James H. Trainor Memorial Scholarship Fund was established in 2004 by Mary Trainor, family, and friends in memory of Dr. James H. Trainor '58 '64G to provide scholarship support to incoming freshmen from White Mountain Regional High School in the New Hampshire North Country who demonstrate academic merit and financial need. Preference is given first to students enrolling in the College of Engineering and Physical Sciences and then to students enrolling in the School of Health and Human Services.

Corinne Tripetti Art Scholarship Fund
Established by friends and family in memory of Corrine Tripetti, the Corinne Tripetti Art Scholarship Fund provides assistance to third- or fourth-year B.F.A. candidates in recognition of achievement, talent, and commitment to excellence in the visual arts, with preference given to those with financial need.

Robert J. Trouville ’59 Athletic Scholarship Fund
This fund was established by classmates and friends of Robert J. Trouville ’59 on the occasion of their 50th reunion. The purpose of the fund is to provide scholarship support for student-athletes at UNH. Recipients must demonstrate financial need.

Tina True Memorial Fund
The Tina True Memorial Fund was established in 2002 by family and friends in memory of Tina Carmella Angelica True, Class 0f 2003, to support the strength and conditioning program.

Tyco Fellowship in Ocean Mapping
The Tyco Fellowship in Ocean Mapping was established in 2000 by Tyco International (US), Inc. to provide two-year fellowships for post-doctoral students participating in UNH's ocean mapping program.

Patricia Vinnicombe Endowed Fund
The Patricia Vinnicombe Endowed Fund was established by Mr. and Mrs. H.G. Vinnicombe Jr. Mr. and Mrs. H.G. Vinnicombe Sr. and Mr. and Mrs. S.O. Goldschmidt to provide support for students enrolled in the hotel administration program at the Whittemore School of Business and Economics.

Alberta Curry Virgil Memorial Scholarship Fund
The Alberta Curry Virgil Memorial Scholarship Fund was established by Elizabeth Virgil '26 to provide financial assistance to full-time undergraduate students who demonstrate financial need and have achieved a satisfactory academic record. Preference is given to minority students.

Karen L. Von Damm Memorial Scholarship Fund
This fund was established in 2008 by Louise Von Damm in memory of her daughter, Karen Von Damm, a professor of geochemistry in the UNH Department of Earth Science. The Karen L. Von Damm Memorial Scholarship Fund provides scholarship support to undergraduate and/or graduate student(s) enrolled in the Earth Sciences department at UNH with a preference to students with an interest in Oceanography, Marine Science or Geochemistry.

The Phil Wageman Memorial Fund was established by the friends and family of Phil Wageman to provide support to undergraduate students engaged in intercollegiate athletics who exhibit academic merit and financial need. Recipients must be residents of New Hampshire, with preference given to those from Manchester, New Hampshire.

Norman S. and Anna M. Waite Professorship
Established by Frederick Waite '27, the Norman S. and Anna M. Waite Professorship provides compensation to a faculty member within the College of Engineering and Physical Sciences.

Frederick Waite Scholarship Fund
Established in 1983, the Frederick Waite Scholarship Fund provides financial assistance to full-time undergraduate students enrolled in the chemical engineering program at the College of Engineering and Physical Sciences, who are entering their third year and demonstrate academic merit.

Robert G. Wakefield International Research Fund
The Robert G. Wakefield International Research Fund was established in 2001 by Charlotte R. Wakefield in memory of her husband, Robert G. Wakefield, to provide financial assistance to allow undergraduate students to participate in a University-approved international research experience, through the International Research Opportunities Program (IROP), or a similar successor program.

Gardner H. Wales Endowed Scholarship Fund
The Gardner H. Wales Endowed Scholarship Fund was established in 2000 in memory of Commander Gardner H. Wales '27 by his wife, Winifred Hunter Wales. The fund provides scholarship support to a full-time student who demonstrates an interest in finance or government and is enrolled in the Whittemore School of Business and Economics. Awards are based on financial need and academic merit.

Frederick C. Walker Endowed Fund
The Frederick C. Walker Endowed Fund was established by Frederick C. Walker '35, former UNH baseball and basketball player, past president of the Alumni Association and alumni trustee, and member of the UNH Athletic Hall of Fame. This fund provides support for UNH baseball activities including, but not limited to, annual spring training.

Frederick N. Walker Jr. Electrical Engineering Scholarship Fund
The Frederick N. Walker Jr. Electrical Engineering Scholarship Fund supports students in electrical engineering within the College of Engineering and Physical Sciences.

Charles E. Warren Memorial Fund
This fund was established by family, friends, and colleagues in memory of Professor Charles E. Warren, an assistant professor of molecular biology and biochemistry at UNH who died in a paragliding accident in 2005. The fund will provide a stipend to a graduate student studying biochemistry, molecular biology, genetics, or related fields.

Harold H. Warren ’44 Fund for Chemistry
This fund was established by Harold H. Warren ’44 to provide a flexible source of support for the Department of Chemistry.

Jack and Pat Weeks Fund
The Jack and Pat Weeks Fund was established in 1990 by Mr. and Mrs. John F. Weeks Jr. to provide financial support, including for faculty and programs, equipment, and graduate and/or undergraduate student awards, to the College of Life Sciences and Agriculture.

Earle A. Welch Scholarship Fund
Established in 1982 in memory of Earle A. Welch, who served as president of the N.H. Bankers Association, the Earle A. Welch Scholarship Fund provides financial assistance to a full-time senior enrolled in the Whittemore School of Business and Economics who demonstrates academic achievement, an interest in economics and finance, and financial need. Preference is given to students from the New Hampshire Lakes Region with a career interest in banking.

James A. Wellman Memorial Scholarship Fund
The James A. Wellman Memorial Scholarship Fund was established in 1945 by Mrs. James A. Wellman, Mrs. Dorothy Wellman Burroughs, Helen Vincent Wellman, and Robert P. Burroughs in memory of James A. Wellman, former trustee of the University. The fund provides scholarship support to University students.

Craig A. West Memorial Fund
The Craig A. West Memorial Fund was established in 1996 to honor Craig A. West, Ph.D. The Craig A. West Memorial Award will be given annually to one deserving chemistry graduate student enrolled in either the Ph.D. or M.S. program of the Department of Chemistry who demonstrates excellence in teaching and research.

Craig A. West Memorial Undergraduate Professional Development Award
The Craig A. West Memorial Undergraduate Professional Development Award was established in 2004 by Jean Viola West '66 in memory of her son Craig A. West, who received his Ph.D. in chemistry in 1995. The award supports research opportunities for exceptional undergraduate students majoring in chemistry who exhibit academic merit.

Russell C. Wheeler Fund for International Studies
The Russell C. Wheeler Fund for International Studies was established in 1976 by Russell C. Wheeler to enable the History Department to support efforts that will enhance international studies.

Whelen Engineering Company Scholarship Fund
The Whelen Engineering Company Scholarship Fund was established in 2005 by Whelen Engineering Company to provide scholarship support to undergraduate students in the College of Engineering and Physical Sciences. Preference is given to students pursuing electrical and computer engineering, mechanical engineering, or computer sciences, especially those demonstrating an interest in robotics engineering. Other students who demonstrate a strong interest in working in high-technology careers also will be considered. Scholarships are awarded to one freshman, sophomore, junior and senior annually and are based on financial need.

Arthur K. Whitcomb Professorship
The Arthur K. Whitcomb Professorship was established in 1987 by the family and friends of Arthur K. Whitcomb '30 to allow the University to compete for and retain the best academic talent among its faculty. The fund also recognizes teaching excellence by designating a faculty member as the Whitcomb Professor for a period of three or more years.

Blanche Dimond and George Loring White Fund
The Blanche Dimond and George Loring White Fund was established in 1964 by Blanche Dimond White '19 to support an annual award to any female student with demonstrated financial need.

Walter M. Wiggin Scholarship Fund
The Walter M. Wiggin Scholarship Fund was established in 1952 by Mary Eva Wiggin and her daughters, Dora Steuber and Elizabeth Crowell in memory of her son Walter M. Wiggin. The scholarship is based on need and merit.

Charles H. Wiggin Scholarship Fund
The Charles H. Wiggin Scholarship Fund was established in 1943 to provide financial support to needy and worthy students.

Donald James Wilcox Endowed Fellowship Fund
The Donald James Wilcox Endowed Fellowship Fund was established by Kenneth R. Manning to provide financial support for undergraduate research in historical topics. Recipients are chosen from among eligible students participating in the University's Undergraduate Research Opportunities Program (UROP).

Wildcat Athletics Council Scholarship Fund
The Wildcat Athletics Council Scholarship Fund is comprised of the William Cone Memorial Scholarship, the F. Samuel Knox Memorial Scholarship, the Charles Hanna Memorial Scholarship, and the Easterbrook Scholarship Fund. Preference is given to students who demonstrate superior athletic ability in an intercollegiate sport, financial need, and good academic standing.

George H. Williams Fund
The George H. Williams Fund was established in 1934 by George H. Williams to provide awards to deserving and meritorious students from Dover, New Hampshire.

Thomas Williams Memorial Fund
The Thomas Williams Memorial Fund was established in 1998 by private donors to provide funds to be used by the English Department for graduate student awards and scholarships and honoraria for guest speakers.

John G. and Katharyn E. Williams Endowed Scholarship Fund
The John G. and Katharyn E. Williams Endowed Scholarship Fund was established in 2002 by Katharyn E. Williams in memory of her husband, John G. Williams. The fund provides scholarship support for UNH students pursuing studies in the marine sciences, particularly those taking courses at the Shoals Marine Laboratory. Awards are based on academic merit and financial need.

John G. Winant Fund
The John G. Winant Fund was established by friends of John G. Winant to provide financial assistance to full-time undergraduate students who demonstrate a commitment to peace and social justice, with special emphasis on economics, social work, or history majors, who have demonstrated financial need, and whose legal residence is New Hampshire.

Donald and Marianne Wohlfarth Football Scholarship
To commemorate the couple’s 50th wedding anniversary, the Donald and Marianne Wohlfarth Football Scholarship Fund was established by Donald Wohlfarth, Jr. ’79 and Michelle Champagne Wohlfarth´79. The fund provides scholarship support to members of the UNH football team who are in good academic standing. Preference will be given to students from central Pennsylvania with secondary preference for students from the state of Pennsylvania.

Winchester R. Wood Memorial Fund
The Winchester R. Wood Memorial Scholarship was established in 1969 by family and friends in memory of Winchester R. Wood '30. The fund awards at least one scholarship annually to a student majoring in engineering and at least one scholarship annually to a student who is a member of any of the University bands. Recipients must be sophomores, juniors, or seniors in good academic standing who demonstrate financial need.

George P. Wood Shoals Marine Lab Scholarship Fund
The George P. Wood Shoals Marine Lab Scholarship Fund was established by Florence M.T. Wood, friends, and family to provide financial assistance to full-time undergraduate students enrolled in courses offered by the Shoals Marine Laboratory who exhibit academic merit and financial need, with preference given to New Hampshire residents.

Patricia F. Woodbury Memorial Fund
The Patricia F. Woodbury Memorial Fund was established in 2006 by the family, friends, and coworkers of Patricia Woodbury '81 to provide scholarship support for students in the classics program who demonstrate financial need, and when possible, who demonstrate an interest in Latin.

Douglas R. Woodward Endowed Fund
The Douglas R. Woodward Endowed Fund was established by Douglas R. Woodward '34 to provide financial assistance to undergraduate and graduate students within the College of Engineering and Physical Sciences. Preference will be given, but is not limited to, students who major in civil engineering.

Dwayne Wrightsman Professorship of Finance
The Dwayne Wrightsman Professorship of Finance was established in 2005 by David J. Greenlaw '80 to reward current faculty or recruit new faculty within the Whittemore School of Business and Economics, whose outstanding academic accomplishments and contributions warrant special recognition. The recipient of this award should be engaged in teaching and research in the area of finance or financial economics.

Yale-Maria Endowed Fund
The Yale-Maria Endowed Fund was established by Frank Maria to provide support for an annual Yale-Maria Lecture in Middle East studies as part of the University's New Hampshire Seminar Series sponsored by the Center for International Education.

William H. Yale Scholarship Fund
The William H. Yale Scholarship Fund was established in 1976 by Professor Emeritus William H. Yale of the Department of History to provide scholarship support.

Zock '77 to provide scholarship support to students enrolled in the College of Liberal Arts, with preference given to students majoring in the performance arts or political science. Awards are based on financial need and academic merit.

Robert & Maureen Zock Scholarship Fund
The Robert & Maureen Zock Scholarship Fund was established in 2005 through the generosity of Robert and Maureen Zock to provide scholarship assistance to students entering the Equine Management or Horticultural Technology programs at the Thompson School of Applied Science based on academic merit.

Anna Zornio Memorial Children's Theater Playwriting Fund
Established in 1979 by friends of Anna Zornio, the Anna Zornio Memorial Children's Theater Playwriting Fund provides financial incentive to students with an interest in writing plays for children for the UNH theatre.

Robert and Ruth Zsigray Academic Enrichment Fund
The Robert and Ruth Zsigray Academic Enrichment Fund was established in 2000 by students, colleagues and friends in honor of Robert M. Zsigray, professor of microbiology, and his wife, Ruth Zsigray. The fund provides financial support to allow undergraduate and graduate students majoring in microbiology to participate in off-campus academic experiences, both nationally and internationally.
